It is an African based charity that houses, nurtures, and educates orphaned children. They have groups of children come to the United States putting on concerts to raise money and get sponsorships. Why am I telling you this? Is it to encourage you to support it? No, but feel free to check it out. The reason I mention it, is these children are AMAZING! It seems like they were dealt a bad hand in life being orphaned. Yet, these children have so much faith and drive to spend six months in the United States doing a concert every night with so much energy and love for God, it s joyful. But it made me think of myself. I was born in the United States. I ve never worried about where my next meal would come from, or not having a roof over my head. But I ve struggled with my relationship with God. How terribly ungrateful this is! These children have so little, and yet they have such vibrant praises that you cannot help but be uplifted. It seems backwards. Here we are with so much, but those with so little are showing us how wonderful God is. I simply ask that you take a moment today, and thank God for all the good things in your life that we often take for granted. We need to remember just how blessed we are! 1

At VBS, your children will be learning that Jesus gathers us together! Kids want to belong, to be understood and valued. They want a BFF at their side, no matter what. At kids will learn from the Bible and many creative activities how Jesus knows them by name, rounds them up, and brings them home. They will discover that Jesus wants to be more for them than any BFF. Psalm 23 is the Bible memory focus of VBS. This beloved portion of scripture shares our confident trust that our Lord is with us now and forever, that He provides all we need, and that He is our protector. I will be sharing a message on Psalm 23 either the Sunday before or after VBS. The children's moments leading up to VBS will also focus on this exciting week. At, our many awesome volunteers will be engaging kids with interactive Bible stories, hands-on crafts, and high-energy music. This VBS tells five farm-tastic Bible accounts where God gathers His people as a shepherd gathers his sheep, providing abundantly for their needs, leading them, and finding them when they wander. 3 Youth Happenings WE ARE OFF TO CAMP!!! I m so excited to watch these children grow in their faith. I can t wait to share with you all of our amazing experiences. I want to thank everyone for all of your prayers and kind words regarding my son Kyle s ear surgery. It means a lot to my family and me. We will see you all in a few weeks!! 4 Newsletter News We are still looking for you; the next newsletter editor! I will be glad to show you the ropes, and help you. I am hoping my last newsletter will be in July. By planning now, we can have a few months to work together and keep producing this wonderful newsletter. Please let Sandy Reems know if you would like to help in any area during that week, and there are always plenty of places where you can help! Registration forms are available now. By signing up now, you will be ready to go on Monday, July 11th. It also ensures teachers have the right number of supplies. So please plan on attending, and bring some friends! OCC Melodrama The 2nd annual melodrama fundraiser for OCC is scheduled for Saturday, July 30th. This year's melodrama is called "The Widow's Oil" and is based on the Bible story of Elijah and the widow. There will be a chicken dinner at 5:30 p.m., and the play starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for both are $15 for adults and $7.50 for children under 8. You can also buy tickets for just the play at a reduced rate. During the play there will be a pie auction. This is sure to be lots of fun, so please plan on attending! 5 Congratulations to Chris Daugherty grandson of Linda Linfoot, on graduating from Fountain Fort Carson High School on May 28th. He plans to join the military and become a chef. Christian love and prayers to the family and friends of Bob Cochran who passed away on May 24th., 2016 Services were held on May 31st in Pueblo, CO. Congratulations to on graduating from CSU-Pueblo on May 7th. He has started working as an account director at Top Hat in Denver, CO. 5

6 Christmas in July Packing Party The OCC Shopping Team will be having a Christmas in July Packing Party on Wednesday, July 13th at 1:00. It will be set up in one of the rooms by the Fellowship Hall. There are no stairs to go up and it should be nice and cool in the air conditioning. Please join us and help us get an early start on packing this year! Operation Christmas Child Welcome, Jean Lowrance, as one of our newest members of our church on May 8th. She transferred from 1st Baptist. She has 3 children and 2 grandchildren with her husband of 57 years, who has passed away in Her hobbies include doing crafts, being in craft shows, bridge, and she and her husband RV travelled for 15 years around the country. Jean said she was planning on shopping around for a church when 1st Baptist closed, and started coming by Central Christian because she knew people here. However, the first Sunday she attended she knew this is where she wanted to be. Information This month's item is toothpaste. We appreciate all of the coupons and are very thankful for all the donations so far. Our goal is 1,000 tubes of toothpaste, we are on our way but still need many more. Please join us in welcoming Dana Dean, who joined our congregation on June 19th. She recently married Jeff Dean, and has 3 children, 3 grandchildren, and one grandchild on the way. Dana is a social studies teacher at Pueblo West High School. She says she wants to travel, but teaching keeps her very busy. Dana joined our church because it s bible based and the doctrine followed is what she believes. She says the congregation is caring and loving, and she always felt welcome. 6
