2 SACRED HEART, the Parish with a Heart Ministry of Praise for September: That peace may prevail in our country and in our world. From Fr. Ken s desk: Most of my comments are concerning Sacred Heart s Fall Festival last Sunday. It was a huge success thanks to the support and work of all the parishioners. Everyone wants to know the financial numbers. It will take a few weeks before they will all be available. However, we do know that we served more dinners this year, the gym events were very profitable, and there were more activities -- including the K.C. booth and the Burmese food stand. People from other parishes were amazed that our parish put all this on. But above all, it was a great social success -- people enjoyed themselves. Again thanks for letting everyone know that Sacred Heart is alive and well. From Fr. Catholic Daughters of the Americas - Monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 10, at Blessed Sacrament Parish Center. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. with a dinner, and the program will be presented by Birthright. Reservations are required by Friday, October 5, to Rachel Jenson, Caring for Cardinals The Caring for Cardinals program needs your help in supplying some items each month. We can use the following items: bar soap, toothpaste, kleenex, dish soap, shampoo and paper towels. These items can be placed in the barrels marked, Caring for Cardinals or in the basket in the front entrance. Formal religious education in a Catholic school or religious education program helps children recognize, understand and appreciate the faith they experience at home. Is your image of God bigger than the labels and categories into which we often place Him? God has been acting in our world from the beginning of time and has been intimately wedded to creation for thousands of years before the creation of humanity. Did you ever consider that God was present when dinosaurs traveled the earth? God's presence surprises us, but He can be clearly seen when people, regardless of their faith or creed, rise to the occasion and do the right thing. We have seen this countless times throughout history when people have put their differences aside, sacrificing their own security and needs to help others. God is much larger than we make Him out to be. Try to be present and mindful and not miss God working in all moments of life. If we are not attentive, God's presence can go unnoticed. We're looking for adults and young adults who can mentor our high school youth through a YDisciple faith sharing group. Groups are made up of 6-10 young men or young women who are looking for a deeper relationship with Christ within a community of peers. We will provide training to all leaders and help you prepare to help these young people grow in their faith.
