1 FELLOWSHIP MESSENGER Dave s Devotional Each year, I have often turned to a particular book for use in my personal devotions. This year I have often referred to The Book of Common Prayer in the Episcopal Church. As Easter has now passed, as we prepare for the season of Pentecost, I find this particular prayer that has been attributed to St. Francis to be especially meaningful to me and I hope it will be for you as well. This prayer reads: Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen. 2 Christ Moravian Church April 2016 News From the Leadership Board The Leadership Board met on Monday, March 14 at 7 PM in the Church Office. Committee reports were given and business of the board was discussed. A church work day was approved for April 9 and a sign up sheet has been posted on the CHURCH FAMILY LIFE bulletin board. The next LB meeting will be Monday, April 11 at 7 PM in the Church Office. ================================================== Women s Fellowship News Join us on Saturday, April 9, beginning at 8 AM at the Fellowship Building! We will be removing bushes from around the church, trimming bushes and other landscaping work. Please call Joey Gray at if you would like to help. A special thank you to all who provided flowers and greenery for the graves. Also a big thank you to the WF for providing food items for the band breakfast on March 27th. Women s Fellowship General Meeting will be Sunday, April 17, after worship in the Fellowship Building. Women s Fellowship Quarterly Circle #3 will meet on Monday, April 25, at 7 PM at the home of Jess Howell. ======================================================= Ray of Hope News: Romans 12:12 - Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. ============================================= MARVELOUS MORAVIANS Lunch at Salem Tavern The Marvelous Moravians will be having lunch on April 20, at Salem Tavern in Old Salem. Cost will be approximately $ We will meet at Salem Tavern at 11:30 AM. For those who wish to carpool, please meet in the Fellowship Building parking lot at 11:15 AM. Parking for the Salem Tavern is in back of the building or on Main Street. A sign up sheet has been placed on the Church Family Life Bulletin Board so that we can get a headcount quickly and make our reservations, assuring us of a 1st Floor Room. The Marvelous Moravians Steering Committee will meet on Monday, April 25, at 10 AM in the Church Office. ============================================= Daisy, Habona, Baraka) Praise Report Our teen mum passed her primary exams and is moving forward to high school Our cow gave birth to healthy calf hallelujah!!!! We are eating produce from our gardens 2 Yadkin View Moravian / Cherokee Connection The April 9 Yadkin View Moravian/Cherokee Connection is now full and registration is closed. Thanks to all who have registered to come. At last count we have 150 attending from many, many churches and Fellowships. What a great response! We even have quite a few men Prayer Request attending. The planning committee is excited to host Baraka has large right cystic lesion suggestive of pleomorphic cystic adenoma, might require surgery. Our seedlings have been attacked by bugs the event at Clemmons Moravian this year. We look forward to seeing you on April 9th.

Gary Gunderson of Wake Forest Baptist Health and Larry M Pray of the United Church of Christ have identified five of particular importance: Coherence, Connection, Agency, Generativity, and Hope. How are these represented in Scripture? How do they interact with our faith and our community, and how do they enhance our daily lives? Join other Senior Friends for a retreat that includes Bible study, reflection, and fellowship centered around these five Leading Causes of Life. CRACK!!! That s the sound of the bat hitting the ball! Yes, Baseball season is almost here. We at CMC are lucky to be so near a baseball field, and to have opportunities to fellowship together with the DASH. We will again this year attend the DASH s Moravian Heritage Night at The Ball Park. That date is June 17, Please save that date and plan on attending that game with us. A sign up sheet will be available soon. 4 A BAND NOTE CE Committee Report: The CE Committee will meet on Sunday, April 3, following the service in the church office. Youth Fellowship: The Youth have several events coming up in April: Sunday, April 10 Youth lunch following the worship service. Saturday, April 16 th : Ø Trip to the NC Zoo in Asheboro Ø 30 Hour Famine for Jr/Sr High: Once again our older youth will be participating in World Vision s 30-Hour Famine to raise money to fight hunger. The country World Vision is focusing on this year is Kenya. If you would like to donate, please see any of the older youth. Sunday, April 17 Ø Youth Sunday during worship Ø Potluck at the office for the youth and parents to end the 30-Hour Famine. Youth Lunch: Join us following the service on Sunday, April 10, for a Youth lunch in the Fellowship Building. The menu will be Baked Potato and Salad Bar. A love offering will be collected to help the youth in their programs. SPECIAL THANKS: On behalf of the band, thanks beyond thanks to the Women s Fellowship for preparing us such a wonderful breakfast before we headed out on our early morning rounds Easter Sunday. It was delicious. Your support of the band is greatly appreciated. Also a big thank you to Sabrina Maksi for being such a generous host to 35 or more hungry bandsmen. Everything is always set up and ready to eat when the band arrives at the church. Thanks for always helping us. On a personal note, I would like to thank John Chitty for his help during Holy Week when I was under the weather; also for his continued help on the rounds as transportation manager and at Home Moravian Church. Last, but certainly not least, a heartfelt thank you to Our Band. Starting with our Day of Prayer service and culminating with Easter Sunday, we have many practices and opportunities to serve our Lord with our music. Our Band is a group of dedicated musicians that always rises to the challenge of this busy Lent and Easter Season. We are fortunate as a church to have a group that plays together every Sunday. I would like the congregation to know just how proud I am to be around all these bandsmen. We have some that have done this Easter Service for over 50 years, and I would like to recognize them now: Annual Youth Retreat: The Annual Youth Retreat will be May at Tise Lodge at Laurel Ridge. This is for the youth and their parents. It is a great time for not only the youth to bond, but the parents as well. The cost is $10 per family to help cover the cost of the food for the long holiday weekend. For more information and to make your reservations, please see Matt Pace or Sabrina Maksi. The Winston-Salem Dash game begins at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $11. The Grateful Choir (our youth) will be singing the National Anthem before the game. The youth will also sponsor a lunch that day of hamburgers and hot dogs after worship in the Fellowship Building. Shuttle service to the game will be provided. There will be a sign-up sheet for tickets. THE DEADLINE IS APRIL 17 th. What an accomplishment for these dedicated individuals! I encourage you to thank them for their service to our Church, and to our Lord. I am so honored to be part of Our Church Band, and I thank all of these musicians for representing our church so well.
