1 FELLOWSHIP MESSENGER Dave s Devotional R2A2 As shared in a recent weekly update, NO we have not created a new robot for upcoming Star Wars moves. However this acronym helps summarize our Stewardship goals as a congregation in the year ahead. Together as Christian stewards we hope to accomplish the following. Recognize Hopefully all of us in the year ahead will recognize that our contributions of our time, talent and treasure DO make a difference in the life and ministry of our church and in God s Kingdom. Relate Together as Christian stewards we need to be in relationship with God and each other. We need to feel connected and find ways to improve our relationships with each other and with God. Assimilate Remembering our Worship + 2 ministry that encourages us find a place in the church or community where we are growing in our faith journey together let s do this in 2017! The best way we accomplish this task is to assimilate ourselves into opportunities to grow spiritually. (or even create new opportunities for spiritual growth). Apply Simply stated, we need to follow through and act upon our commitment to become better stewards here at Christ Moravian Church. On November 20 th the Sunday known as Christ the King Sunday and also the last Sunday of the church calendar year, we are asking our members to covenant in prayer to help support our congregation in various ways in We will be distributing a Covenant Prayer Card for you to sign and place in the offering plate that Sunday. There will be copies distributed beforehand in worship so we are familiar with this covenant card beforehand. Together, let s strive to follow our Worship + 2 Ministry and apply the principles of R2A2 together. The luminaries will line the walk and driveway for the lovefeasts on Christmas Eve. An insert will be included in the ode listing whom the luminaries are for. The luminaries are $3 each. There will be a box in the Resource Center to put your luminary list and money in beginning November 13, or you can contact the church office at All proceeds go to the youth and their mission projects. 2 Christ Moravian Church November 2016 THANKSGIVING EVE LOVEFEAST News From the Leadership Board The Leadership Board met on Monday, October 10 at 7 PM in the Fellowship Building. This meeting was to review and approve the 2017 budget. The next LB meeting will be Monday, November 14 at 7 PM in the Fellowship Building. ================================================== News From the Petersbrook RCC On December 13, the Petersbrook RCC will sponsor a Christmas Lovefeast at the Overflow Shelter for homeless men at Augsburg Luthern Church. We will serve a meal, sing carols, have a Lovefeast and visit with the gentlemen. The RCC will prepare a gift bag for the men. Among some of the items we need for the bags are boxers and wool socks. Please help us in getting these much needed items. A collection box will be in the back hallway starting Sunday, November 6. Our Thanksgiving Eve Lovefeast will be on Wednesday, November 23, at 7:00 PM. The youth will be leading the service. Please bring a canned or non-perishable food donation for Sunnyside Ministry. ============================================= ADVENT EVENT ======================================================= Women s Fellowship News This year is just about over and we still have lots to do! We are preparing for the busy Christmas season. The Candle Trim Dinner is Tuesday, December 6, at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Building. Please plan on attending. Please bring in Salemtowne bingo prizes as often as possible. There is a collection box in the hall behind the Sanctuary. Prizes could include word search books, postage stamps, pens, combs, brushes, sun catchers, small flower pots, jewelry, lotion, soap, magnets please donate. WOMEN S FELLOWSHIP CIRCLE #1 MEETING is scheduled for Monday, November 21 at 7 PM in the Fellowship Building. Please join us for our annual Advent Event that will be held on Sunday, November 27, following worship in the Fellowship Building. The CE Committee is providing the roast beef and asks that the congregation provide the side dishes and desserts. After lunch, there will be a special project for all to participate in led by Becky Lanier while you visit with one another and the children can decorate the Christmas tree. The church bus will not be available for this trip so personal cars will be taken. There are no costs associated with the trip although a love offering will be collected for the lunch at Hope Moravian Church. For December, the MM s will be attending the Advent and Hopewell Band Concert at Salemtowne on Tuesday, December 13, at 7 PM. We will hopefully be taking the church bus if we can find a driver. A sign up sheet has been posted on the CHURCH FAMILY LIFE Bulletin Board if you are interested in going. The January meeting will be January 12 at 11 AM in the Fellowship Building for a planning session and lunch from the Diane and Dave Catering Service (Brunswick Stew and Chili!) 3

4 Christmas & Note Cards: Christmas cards featuring our star and church in the snow are still available for $10 per pack of 10 cards/envelopes. There are also blank notecards available with either the church in snow, the church in spring and the star in packs of 12 for $10. The cards are located in the Resource Center. All proceeds benefit the Youth. CE Committee Report: The CE Committee met on Thursday, October 20 in the church office. Topics of discussion included: review of the paper shredding on October 15 and food drive for Storehouse for Jesus in Davie County; Biggest Turkey Contest Food Drive October 16-November 20 split food donations between Sunnyside Ministry and Crisis Control; the Advent Event on November 27; Children s Christmas Program December 4 during service; Christmas Caroling December 18; Christmas card boxes which will be put out on November 20; adopt 1 or 2 families through the Salvation Army for our congregational Christmas project.the next meeting will be Thursday, November 10 at 6:30 pm in the church office. Youth Fellowship: (1) A roller skating outing is being planned for the Middle High and younger youth. This will be on a Sunday after church. Please watch for further information. (2) Parents, Christmas Program rehearsals will be starting on November 6. You will be contacted as to the time, but the rehearsals may be immediately after the service in the Children s Church area. Youth Lunch: There will be a Youth Lunch on Sunday, November 13, following the service and the menu will include homemade chicken stew. A love offering will be collected at both lunches to help the youth with their projects and missions. Biggest Turkey Contest: Don t forget to vote for the Biggest Turkey of Christ Moravian Church by bringing in non-perishable food items and putting them in the box for your favorite candidate: Emma LaBella, Wayne Walker or Chris Vogler. All food items will be counted and divided between Sunnyside Ministry and Crisis Control. The winner will be announced on November 27. The contest will end on November 20. Lovefeast Bun Orders: If you would like to order lovefeast buns for either December 20 or Christmas Eve, please let Sabrina Maksi know by December 4. All proceeds will go toward the Sr. High Youth s Convo 2017 Fund. ================================================== MISSION SOCIETY LOVEFEAST The annual Mission Society Lovefeast is planned for Sunday, November 6, at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church beginning at 3 PM, with music provided beforehand by the provincial band. Justin Rabbach from the Board of World Mission will bring a special message. ANNIVERSARY COFFEE MUGS FOR SALE The Christ Moravian Church 120 th Anniversary Coffee Mugs are available for purchase in the Resource Room at the church for $3.00 each. ================================================= CHRISTMAS CARD BOXES Christmas is a time for getting in touch with friends and family and letting them know that you are thinking about them. Once again there will be decorated boxes for our Special Friends, some of whom are unable to join us on Sundays, in which you can put Christmas cards for them.
