Catholic Charities Little Flower Assistance Center is looking for volunteers who would like to make a 3-hour per week commitment to serve at Little Flower. Our center is located at the corner of 14 th Street and Lansing Street in Aurora, one block south of Colfax Avenue and a few blocks west of Peoria St. We have two types of volunteer opportunities available. Assist clients: As a volunteer assisting clients you would interview clients, assist them with their food needs, and provide referrals to community services. We currently need volunteer client assistants on Monday mornings, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm AND Monday afternoons, 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Food room worker: We also need help in our food room sorting food and filling bags for distribution on Monday mornings, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. No previous training or experience for either volunteer opportunity is required as we provide on-the-job training. If you are interested in helping at Little Flower on Mondays on a regular basis or would like more information, please contact Val Hanafee at (720) or via at hanafee2@aol.com. Craft Fair - You are invited to the annual St. Vincent de Paul Holiday Craft Fair to be held on Saturday, November 3rd (9 am- 6 pm) and Sunday, November 4th (8 am-4 pm) at Queen of Peace Church, E. Kentucky Avenue, Aurora The Fair will feature crafts, jewelry, food, bake sale, a raffle and more. The funds raised will feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and provide rental and utility assistance to those in need in Aurora. Please join Ave Maria Catholic School at our annual 'Angels Among Us Benefit' held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Hilton Inverness Hotel. This fun-filled evening will include a silent auction, dinner, dancing and live auction all to support the continued success of Ave Maria Catholic School and our students. Concessions will be available for purchase, as well as pumpkins! Pumpkins will also be available during Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st Mass times. Pre-sale admission bracelets will be available after all Masses on October 14th, $10 each; day of admission, the bracelets will be $12 each! The Women's Club would like your help! We are tying children's blankets for local charities in November. We are asking for donations of fleece. If you are able to help us, we are asking for 2 yards of a print as well as 2 yards of a coordination solid. There will be 2 gray containers in the Gathering Space through the entire month of October that you can drop your donation(s) into. Thank you in advance for your generous donations. They are very much appreciated! Blessing of Animals: In celebration of St Francis of Assisi s feast day on October 4th, St Michael s will be hosting a Blessing of your pets on Saturday, October 4th from noon to 12:30 pm on the front lawn. Bring your pet and invite other members of your family and your neighbors to bring their pets too!
