Putano for information prior to the birth of the child. For adults, contact Fr. Charles for the RCIA process. Marriage Arrangements must be made at least six months in advance with Fr. Charles or Msgr. Putano. One of the parties must be registered in the parish. Hospitalized Please notify the parish office when a family member is in the hospital. Very often we do not receive this information. Anointing of the Sick If you are preparing to enter the hospital for any reason and would like to be anointed, please contact the parish offices. Low Gluten hosts are available for anyone who is gluten intolerant. Please stop in the sacristy before Mass to let us know. Bulletin available on either parish website.

3 Our Parishes & Pastoral Care Area A Family Perspective (Mark 10:2-16) Having possessions is an illusion. In today s gospel, Jesus told the young man to give up his need to control and put his trust in God. He could not let go! In families, our need to control destroys relationships, We can lead, teach and encourage, but we cannot control anyone but ourselves. THANKSGIVING BASKET COLLECTION ST. CYRIL & METHOD - We will be helping 80 families this year. We will begin our collection next week, October 13/14 with canned fruit/box roll mix. See the flyer insert in today s bulletin for a complete listing of the items to be collected. A second monetary collection will be taken on the weekend of November 10/11 to defy the cost of any additional items needed. HOLY TRINITY - We will be helping 70 families this year. As we have done in the past two years bags will be available at the entrances to the church with a list of needed items attached to the front of the bags. Thank you to the parishioners of both parishes for your generosity in continuing this mission to the families of our surrounding area. Pondering Stewardship No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other or be attentive to the one and despise the other. (Luke 16:13) HELP WANTED : SEEKING YOUTH MINISTER for St. Cyril/Holy Trinity. Qualified candidate will be responsible for recruitment & engagement of youth in 7th-12th grades into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Candidate must have a heart for the Church and her young people. Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing & possess the ability to work independently with the parishes as well as being part of the Pastoral Care Area Youth Ministry Team. Work hours will include evenings and weekends as needed. Associate or Bachelor s Degree preferred. This is a part time position. Might God be calling you to serve His teens? RETROUVAILLE PROGRAM FOR MARRIED COUPLES The Challenge of Marriage in Today s Society. This program is for couples with marital problems that want marriage help. Those who are considering separation and those who are already separated or divorced are encouraged to consider the Retrouvaille Program. There is always hope of reviving your relationship. 4 OCTOBER 7TH TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME ST. CYRIL S SOCIAL CLUB CHICKEN & BISCUIT DINNER Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 11:30 am until sold out. Adults $ 10, Children $ 6.00 (5 and under free) Homemade Cakes and Pies are needed for the dinner. Please deliver cakes and pies to the Parish Center on Saturday October 20. GEORGE S GARMENTS - We are beginning to accept fall and winter clothes. Outwear is always in high demand and we especially need children s clothing. Please drop clothes off at the parish office Monday - Thursday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Volunteers are needed to sort and hang up clothing and to assist clients on Wednesdays between 11:00am 1:00 pm. Our next big event free clothing give-away will be held on Saturday, November 3 between the hours of 10 am - 1 pm. Cards in increments of $ 5.00 work the best. You may return the cards in the collection basket or the parish office. Catholic Charities would like to start giving out the cards on December 3rd. CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY - Thank you very much for your prayers, cards and gifts in honor of my sister, Lottie Soljan. HOLY TRINITY - All are invited to join us at Holy Trinity on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 8:45 as we celebrate a Family Rosary Mass. Plan to remain after mass to recite the rosary as a family and then join us in the hall to enjoy a continental breakfast. Our Children and Families Society will have pumpkins on hand for the children to carve. COMING TO OUR LADY OF SORROWS CHURCH, VESTAL, NEW YORK October 20-21, 2018, Catholic Comedian - JUDY MCDONALD will speak at Masses and 7 pm Sunday, October 21. Judy McDonald has been a professional comedian for the past 22 years and a Catholic all her life. She has shared her unique way of evangelizing on television, radio, military bases, conferences, comedy clubs and parishes all over the U.S. and the world. Judy s comedy and talks are geared for all ages and for groups as big as 20K to as little as 12 (worked for Jesus). All are welcome!
