Putano for information prior to the birth of the child. For adults, contact Fr. Charles for the RCIA process. Marriage Arrangements must be made at least six months in advance with Fr. Charles or Msgr. Putano. One of the parties must be registered in the parish. Hospitalized Please notify the parish office when a family member is in the hospital. Very often we do not receive this information. Anointing of the Sick If you are preparing to enter the hospital for any reason and would like to be anointed, please contact the parish offices. Low Gluten hosts are available for anyone who is gluten intolerant. Please stop in the sacristy before Mass to let us know. Bulletin available on either parish website.

3 Our Parishes & Pastoral Care Area St. Cyril s Spring Clothing Giveaway, Saturday, May 19 The big giveaway will be May 19, 10am-2pm. We need volunteers for the following: - 5/19 from 9:00am-2:00pm to work the giveaway - Wednesdays 11am-1pm to give clothes away Please note that the center will be closed on Wednesday 5/14 to prepare for the 19th. The following donations are especially needed: spring & summer clothing especially for children, gently used shoes, afghans and blankets, bibles, religious pamphlets and religious articles such as rosaries, medals, etc. St. Cyril s Festival Information 2018 Festival Meeting - The next meeting of the Festival Committee will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018, at 6:30 pm in the Parish Center. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. Halupki-Making for 2018 Festival - The first halupki making session will begin at 9 am in the Parish Center on WEDNESDAY, MAY 23. Please consider joing us if you are available. "Many hands make light work." No experience necessary Festival Sign-Up Sheets are located at the Parking Lot entrance to the church. Please consider working one of the venues, if possible. This is a major fund raising event for the church and many volunteers are needed. The Festival will be held on Sunday, July 22nd, from 11 am to 6 pm. PENTECOST is next Sunday, May 20. A blessing of liturgical ministries (greeters, altar servers, lectors, music ministers, Eucharistic ministers & ushers) will take place at St. Cyril s next weekend at Saturday and Sunday Masses. Remember to wear red as a symbol of the Holy Spirit! All Senior High youth and Young Adults are invited to attend ALPHA YOUTH, Enjoy food, talk & discussion. Our final sessions of ALPHA YOUTH are: Sat. May St. James (McDevitt Room) 6:00 pm! (Note: Time Change) Sat. May Retreat Evening & Reynolds Ranch, 4:00 7:00 pm. Sat. Reverend Alfred Bebel will be celebrating the 60th Jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood at the 8:45 mass on Sunday, May 20. All are invited to be present to help recognize his dedication and devotion to our parishes. A light reception will follow in the hall after the mass. Holy Trinity's annual parish clean-up day will take place on Saturday, June 2 from 9 til noon. Volunteers are needed to help trim, rake and clean up the grounds and to plant 200+ geraniums. A lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided around noon. Please bring your own hand tools, kneeling pads and gloves. Please sign up on the sheets at the entrances so we can plan to have enough food. Information Nights: Formation Opportunities Are you interested in deepening your knowledge of our faith? Feeling called to ministry? Already a commissioned lay minister in our diocese and have a desire to do further study? This night is for you! See and hear about what St. Bernard's has to offer in Syracuse and beyond, Learn about the application process, requirements, course offerings and components of our diocesan Formation for Ministry Program, or Hear about the process involved in becoming a deacon in our diocese. If you are interested, information night will be held on Thursday, May 15th 7:00-8:00 pm at St. Francis of Assisi, Chenango Street, Binghamton. Nocturnal Adoration Society will meet at St. Patrick s Chapel on May 19 from 7-8pm. All members are encouraged to attend. MAY DEVOTIONS AT ST. JAMES CHURCH will be held every Tuesday, 7 pm, at St. James Church, Johnson City during the month of May. Each Tuesday evening will answer the question, Why do Catholics have Marian devotions? as seen through the eyes of five different saints: St. Louis de Monforte, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. John Paul II, St. Teresa of Calcutta, and St. Padre Pio. Please join us and share in the devotions to our Mother, Mary. Theology on Tap Join us on Thurs, May 17 at Galaxy Brewing Company at 7pm for free food, fellowship, and a great talk by Chelsea Frehulfer: "Choosing Love in the Dark Ages." 4 Memorial Day Flag Placement Ceremony Flags will be placed alongside Veterans Monuments at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery on Sat, May 19 at 9:30AM. This is an annual event of The Chester J. Jaskiewicz American Legion Post People interested in placing the flags are asked to meet at the Veterans Memorial Circle. The RAIN DATE Sat, May 26 at 9:30 AM. American Legion Post 1305 will hold a Memorial Service at the Cemetery at 11AM on Memorial Day, May 28. After, all are invited to the American Legion Center on Lower Stella Ireland Road for Lunch. Knights of Columbus Pizza & Movie Night Please join us at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 136 Park Avenue, Binghamton on Friday May 18, 2018 for pizza and a movie. There will also be a cash bar! Kitchen opens at 5 pm and the movie begins at 6:30 pm. The price only $8.99 per pie. Add $1 per topping. Toppings include mushrooms, onion, peppers, pepperoni, sausage, and white garlic. This month's movie selection will be The Letters (2014). A drama that explores the life of Mother Teresa through letters she wrote to her longtime friend and spiritual advisor, Father Celeste Van Exem over a 50-year period. All proceeds go to our Wheelchair Fund. A Family Perspective The words of Jesus in today s gospel, Abide in me, are appropriate on a day we honor mothers because there is a special bond connecting mothers and their children, extending beyond birth and death. Carnations will be sold at all Masses this weekend. Proceeds to benefit Birthright of Binghamton, a pro-life non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to helping pregnant women and their babies. Honor your mother, your grandmother, mothers to be, or the memory of those who have passed, by donating to this wonderful organization. Happy Mother s Day to all of our mothers and mothers-to-be! If he calls, then he will provide the means to live out the life he desires for you. All he looks for us to do is to give him our permission to work powerfully in our lives. If you give him permission to come into your life, trust me when I tell you, life will never be the same. The Joy! Call Have things you no longer use? Samaritan House (11 Fayette Street, Binghamton) helps over 200 people a month. They are always in need of household items, children s clothing and hygiene products.
