Cyril s = $24,390.50, to date $13, Hope Appeal dollars support our local Catholic Charities, the Vietnamese, Spanish & Deaf Apostolates, and the Campus ministry at Binghamton University as well as tuition assistance for Catholic Schools, which in turn has benefited our parishioners. 3 Our Parishes & Pastoral Care Area Remembrance Services Wednesday, November 15 at 7pm, Holy Trinity Thursday, November 16 at 7pm, St. Cyril s All are invited to attend these special services to remember those from our Parishes who have passed away in the last year. If you have a loved one who passed away, but whose funeral wasn t held in either church, please contact the Parish Office and we will honor them. Holy Trinity Altar Rosary Society will be meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 1pm. Our meeting will feature a presentation and demonstration about essential oils and how they can improve your health. We will also have a sign-up that day for our Christmas luncheon which will be on Dec. 19 at Little Venice. Annual dues will be collected as well. Please plan to attend! Thanksgiving Day Mass The Thanksgiving Day Masses for our Pastoral Care Area will be held at 9am at St. James or 9:30am at St. Thomas. There will be no Mass on that day at Holy Trinity or St. Cyril s. March for Life Pilgrimage - January 18 to 20 Join the youth of the Diocese of Syracuse and people from across the country at the March for Life in Washington, DC! This 3-day pilgrimage is for students in grades 7-12, and includes museum and monument tours, Mass with Bishop Cunningham at the National Basilica, and attendance at the Life is Very Good Evening of Prayer. The cost is only $75 per student (the rest is covered by our ongoing Youth Ministry fundraising efforts). Scholarships are available if finances are in any way a concern. If you are interested in attending, or would like more information, please contact Andrea Carey at acarey@syrdio.org by Nov. 20. Indoor Yard Sale Sunday, November 19 from 11am to 4pm at St. Cyril s. Set-up by sellers is from 9am to 11am. The seller fee is $5 if you provide your own table, or $10 to rent a long table from us. You keep the rest of your earnings. Call Anne at for more information or to reserve a spot. The Slovak Cemetery Service will be held this Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1pm at the Slovak Cemetery on Riverside Drive in Binghamton. Thanksgiving Basket Collections Holy Trinity is collecting donations through November 12. As we did last year, bags are available at the entrances to church with the list of needed items attached. St. Cyril s is collecting needed items on a weekly basis. On the weekend of November 11/12, we will have a second collection for monetary donations. Oplatki is now available at the Parish Office. The price is $3.00 for a package of six wafers Holy Trinity envelopes are available for pickup in the Gathering Area of the Church. Envelopes NOT picked up by Nov. 20 will be taken to the St. Cyril s Office and can be picked up during regular office hours. Advent Wreath Workshop at 11am, Sunday, November 26 in St. Cyril s Parish Center Join us to make your own evergreen Advent wreath to help you pray and prepare during Advent for the great feast of Christmas. Please use the sign-up sheets located at the parking lot entrances of St. Cyril s and Holy Trinity. The cost is only $5. Remember to bring small hand pruners or sharp scissors! Can you help? If you have any Christmas floral picks, pine cones, or other decorations that can be used, please bring them to the Parish Center on the 26th. Can you help by bringing evergreen branches, or help to set up on the 25th, or clean up on the 26th> Call Sue Edwards at St. Cyril s Children s Christmas Party The Children s Christmas Party will be held Sunday, December 3 from 12noon to 2pm in the Parish Center. Sign up sheets will be at the Parking Lot entrance to the church for children or grandchildren of registered parishioners ages 0 through 10.

4 Holly Day Fair Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11 from 9am to 4pm each day in the Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish Center, 701 West Main Street, Endicott. This event includes handmade crafts and gifts, collectibles and home décor, a quilt raffle, bake sale, and food. Baked goods will be for sale all day, and in the morning there will be coffee and doughnuts. Lunch will be served both days from 11am to 2pm, and take out is available. 34th Annual Pizza Sale to Support Birthright of Binghamton A portion of all take-out pizza orders on Wednesday, November 8 will benefit Birthright. Places to purchase your pizza will be Consol s in Endicott ( ) 4pm to close, Cortese in Binghamton ( ) 11:30am to close, Rossi s Pizza in Johnson City ( ) 10am to close, and Vestal Bakery ( ) 9am to 9pm. Please mention Birthright when you call and pick-up. St. Anthony s Marketplace: Holiday Shopping, Craft Show & Flea Market Saturday, Nov. 11 from 8:30am-2pm in St. Anthony s Church Hall, 300 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Browse over 20 local vendors, gift baskets, decorations, Italian specialties, collectibles, gift shop, pepper cookies, white elephant, and enjoy the food and bake sale. This year, there will be a special 100 year Celebration Raffle with 100 different gift card items winner takes all! Tickets for the raffle are $5 each. St. Anthony s Holy Name Society Lasagna Sale Sat, November 18 from 3-4pm, take out only! All orders must be placed by Sun, November 12 by calling Nick at Each lasagna is $28 and serves 9. Call ahead to order your fresh or frozen (uncooked) lasagna and pay at pickup. John & Andrew Mon, 11/27 at 6pm - Our Lady of Good Counsel Re-Certification training sessions: Sat, 11/11 at 9am - Our Lady of Good Counsel Wed, 11/29 at 6pm - Saints John & Andrew NOVEMBER 5- ORDINARY TIME Catholic Charities Christmas Gift Cards Youth ages living in Broome County will have the opportunity to receive a gift card in the month of December at either Catholic Charities pantry: Binghamton Pantry at 100 Main Street, and Mother Teresa s Pantry, St. Ambrose Church, 202 Garfield Avenue, Endicott. This age group is typically not eligible for other Christmas sign-ups. In order to offer gift cards this holiday season, we ask for parish support in donating gift cards for Walmart, Target, Boscovs, and Oakdale Mall. Gift cards in $5 increments work best. Envelopes are available now: please take an envelope and return it with a gift card to one of the stores indicated on the envelope. This will take the place of our usual Giving Tree. Please return gift cards to the collection basket each week as soon as possible. Catholic Charities will begin distributing cards in early December. A Family Perspective In today s gospel, Jesus describes the vocation of parents: The greatest among you will be your servant. Children take our blood, genes, strength, name, patience and resources. A parent s servitude begins at the moment of conception. The Lord is present in each of our acts of selfless service. National Vocation Awareness Week will be celebrated in our country November 5-11, Please ask our Lord for more dedicated, holy priests, deacons and consecrated men and women. May they be inspired by Jesus Christ, supported by our faith community, and respond generously to God s gift of a vocation. PRAY FOR VOCATIONS We pray this month especially for: Brendan Foley From St. James, Johnson City Theology I St. Mary s Seminary VOCATIONS The greatest among you must be your servant. The instruction of Jesus remains today as an invitation to those who would be leaders in the Church. We are grateful for the example of Pope Francis, who has so often stooped to serve others. Please pray for the Pope, bishops and priests, that they may serve as Jesus instructed. Visit for ideas on supporting our priests.
