Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her. -Luke 10:42 NIV To set the stage: Mary and Martha had invited Jesus and the disciples into their house. When these words were spoken, Martha was busy making dinner, while Mary was sitting on the floor at Jesus feet listening to Him talk. Martha complained to Jesus about Mary s sloth, and that s when Jesus spoke these words. We re awfully busy these days, and by awfully, I mean It s awful. There doesn t seem to by any pickin or grinnin or front porch sittin like there used to be. Jesus words to Martha encourage us all to STOP. Not permanently, but regularly. We need to stop our busyness, figuratively sit down at the feet of Jesus, and listen to Him. We hear His Word in the Bible, so that s where we need to go. Take time out of your week to worship. Make it a priority! Take time out of your day at work or at play to think about God, recall some Scripture, and pray. Yes, we need to work, and we are to work diligently, but Jesus Words reminds us that we don t live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. Stop! Jesus time. 3 Event Updates ETI On Sunday, November 11th, Victory will be blessed to have Jackson Kanyiginya and Andrew Cesari from Educate Tanzania present to share greetings and updates from Karagwe, Tanzania after the service! Pie Social We will be having a pie social after worship on Thanksgiving Eve Wednesday, November 21 st at 7:30 PM. Flowers for the Altar Please sign up to donate flowers for the altar it is a great way to celebrate a special occasion. You can sign up on the back kiosk or online by Craft Fair We will be hosting a craft fair here at Victory on Sat, Nov 17 th at 9-2 PM. If you are interested in being a vendor to register. Financial Secretary Position This position is opening up and we will need to fill this position. Job description: Supervise the opening of all contribution envelopes Keep an accurate record of all individual gifts Deposit all contributions and church receipts Provide the Communicant Membership with quarterly reports of contributions made Provide Communicant Members offering envelopes annually Provide to the treasurer a weekly tabulation of offerings received Financial Secretary shall be bonded Page 3

If there is a special occasion or event or you d just like to beautify the sanctuary, please sign up and let Kay Peters know your arrangement preference (quantity, color, type, price). Tote Bags/Bulletins Tote bags for the younger children are available on the rack in back. Please feel free to use one during the worship service and then return it when done. Children s bulletins are available on the round table by the church entrance. They are directed at ages 3-6. Although children of all ages will enjoy them. Victory Prayer Chain Victory has an Prayer Chain which will lift your specific requests up to God for you. Those who receive the will prayerfully support you in your need with His comfort, love and strength. If you let Pastor or the church office know, your prayer request will be forwarded. May we cast our cares unto Him whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light. 6 BOD Monthly Status Report Monday, October 15th 2018 In attendance: Vernone Feyereisen, Julie Dusatko, Garret Grev, Corey Whiteford, Pastor Prigge, Andy Knott, Tim Peters & Katie Peters Absent: Ian Newville, Ethan Grev & Chris Mundahl Pastor called the meeting to order and opened with prayer Board Status Updates: Financial Secretary: Tim Despite 5 Sundays in September we came up short about $1,870 Tracking $18k behind budget YTD Third quarter contribution statements are in mailboxes Treasurer: Vernone Offerings as of end of September were $16k below budget Reviewed balances of checking, savings and designated funds account Presented the budget Our mortgage rate went up it is adjusted every 3 months LCEF is offering a 40 month note at 4% to invest, not sure we have the means at this time but will consider it if we get the money Properties: Corey Ordering materials for downstairs Ron is requesting a gas blower for cleaning up leaves Still working on gathering the buildings committee looking to petition getting more funds and attention focused on the parking lot at this time Notifying BOD that the hot water heater is 7 years old and the max projected life is about 10 Education: Andy Sunday school is going really well Attendance has been high Looking to order more material Ordered some Christmas programs Looking to orchestrate a fall or early winter event for kids and families Page 6
