2 A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR PRIGGE All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, -2 Timothy 3:15 NIV Who says the Bible is true? The Bible does. How reliable is the Bible if the claim of reliability comes from that Bible itself? Ultimately it s a matter of faith. Just like it s a matter of faith, not evidence, that the world came about as a result of some big bang, just like it s a matter of faith to deny the existence of God, it s also a matter of faith when it comes to trusting the Bible. However, in addition to the internal claim, there is external evidence that the Bible is credible. There are historical references to places and people that have been verified as historically accurate. There is the fact that the Bible was recorded by many different people over the course of about 1500 years. Many different people from many different centuries all recorded a message that agrees and points to Jesus as our Savior from sin. The Koran has one author, Mohammed. One man claimed exclusive revelations and expects the world to trust his revelations alone. The Book of Mormon has one author, Joseph Smith, who expected the world to trust his revelations alone as a source of truth. The Bible was recorded by many different authors, almost eliminating the possibility of collusion and forwarding one s own cause. Finally, the Bible doesn t point to human ability or activity as a source of salvation. All other belief systems on earth center on our ability to perform to a certain standard in order to please God. The Bible points us to Jesus, who pleased God for us. As you begin the hustle and bustle of the Fall season, make sure to schedule regular time for worship and time in God s Word. It s reliability is certain! 3 Grubby Sunday Our last Grubby Sunday for the year will be on Sunday, October 1st. We will be concentrating on restoring the big sign out front, and finishing up odds and ends around the grounds. Page 3 The Victory Sun - Sept 2017

4 Victory 5K Pictures visit our website at It is password protected the password has been ed to the congregation in the last updated but, if you need it please and Jennifer can give it to you. Volunteer Opportunities Board Positions The current board positions are open: Outreach/Assimilation Shepherding Fellowship Please the office or contact Ethan Grev if you are interested. Church Grounds Cleanup New Tuesday Night grounds work opportunity. Doug and others typically do yard work and other activities Tuesday nights around 4:00-5:00 PM. All are invited to come when available and help with some of the work and tasks. Worship Assistants Please consider helping out as a worship assistant. We are currently looking for more help in all areas. It is important to remember that these positions are a vital role to our worship here at Victory Lutheran. We appreciate your assistance! Church Information Flowers for the Altar The Flowers for the Altar sign-up sheet on the kiosk by the office. If there is a special occasion or event or you d just like to beautify the sanctuary, please sign up and let Kay Peters know your arrangement preference (quantity, color, type, price). Tote Bags/Bulletins Tote bags for the younger children are available on the rack in back. Please feel free to use one during the worship service and then return it when done. Children s bulletins are available on the round table by the church entrance. They are directed at ages 3-6. Although children of all ages will enjoy them. Victory Prayer Chain Victory has an Prayer Chain which will lift your specific requests up to God for you. Those who receive the will prayerfully support you in your need with His comfort, love and strength. If you let Pastor or the church office know, your prayer request will be forwarded. 7 BOD Monthly Status Report Thursday, August 17th 2017 In attendance: Tim Peters, Pastor Prigge, Katie Peters, Ethan Grev, Nick Tollefson, Doug Scholz, Ian Newville, Vernone Feyereisen and Garret Grev Absent: Alice Prigge Ethan called the meeting to order and Pastor opened with a devotion Board Status Updates: Financial Secretary: Tim Finish to July was strong with roughly $2,000 more than our expenses Receipts from the outdoor service were less than desirable for the kick off of August Treasurer: Vernone Made transfer to Ameriprise account Donations made towards Educate Tanzania will be roughly $2,400 similar to last year Properties: Doug Finished up grubby Sunday projects Pulled fire pit out Fixed up playground area Dug up stumps in the parking lot Working on fixing a few of the sprinklers so that they operate properly Looking to have a Fall Grubby Sunday maybe in September Focus would be on the Victory sign Move rock and plant low shrubs around the sign Interested in offering Properties Board Position up to another member but continuing to stay active in the work that needs to be done Proceed on and get the congregation ok and set the date with the painter.
