1 Identification Statement of the Wyoming Christian Reformed Church We are the Wyoming Christian Reformed Church. Standing on the infallible Word of God, in the tradition of the Reformed faith as it s expressed in the Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession and Canons of Dort, we boldly proclaim and celebrate the coming of God s kingdom in Jesus Christ. By the strength of His Spirit we gather and enfold newcomers into His covenant of grace. We teach and equip believers and their baptized children for obedient, loving service in all areas of life to the praise of our heavenly Father. Regarding Worship: Amidst the wide range of worship practices in our culture today, we maintain that worship is a meeting between God and His people in which God is praised and His people are blessed. Worship must be centered on the preaching of the word the primary means of grace. We deem it a blessing to assemble twice on the Lord s Day to praise His name. Worship is our highest calling and joy. Regarding Moral and Ethical Living: The Bible is our guide for life. It addresses the sanctity of life (Ex 20:13), the roles of men and women in the church and home (1 Tim 2:11-15; Eph 5:22-23), the proper attitude toward material possessions (1 Tim 6:3-10). In short, the Bible addresses every aspect of our lives. In our world ravaged by moral relativism, we affirm that all the principles for Christian living revealed in the Bible and summarized in the Ten Commandments, remain normative for our lives today. The church s task is to proclaim these principles and to call sinners to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. With love and compassion, we practice church discipline and encourage penitent believers in their continual battle against the kingdom of darkness. To strengthen our identity in Christ, we seek contact and fellowship with churches of like mind. 2 Welcome to our worship services in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you come as a visitor today, we hope you will leave as a friend. Whether you are a newcomer to the community or to our church, we are honoured to have you here. May we all be strengthened and encouraged by the proclamation of the gospel. After the morning service, everyone is invited for coffee and juice in the fellowship hall downstairs. As we obediently train children in the way they should go, may it be our prayer that they will not turn from it when they are older (Proverbs 22:6). 4 CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS LADIES: Please join us on Tuesday Nov 6 for a special morning. Mindy DeBoer will be our guest. Mindy is involved in the ministry "Power to Change- Students in Quebec City She will share with us what this ministry is about and what some of the needs are. She is very excited about this opportunity so please come out and enjoy this morning with her. We will begin at 10 a.m. Coffee will be ready at 9:45. There is nursery for infants and Story Hour for children. ATTENTION SENIORS: We are having a coffee social on Friday November 9th at 10 AM. Mr. John Baragar from Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers will speak on I D. Theft and Fraud. Followed with a soup and buns lunch HARVEST FESTIVAL: Come out to the church Friday, November 9 from 6:30-9:00pm for a fun filled evening of games, pumpkins, face painting, fellowship and more. You are all invited, young and old, to join in on the excitement. So, clear your calendar and get ready for a fun filled celebration for the Harvest that God has given us. BEAR CREEK CADETING NEWS: On November 10, Bear Creek Council is hosting an ALL Ontario Counselor Conference to be held at Strathroy Christian School. Please pray for all our workshop leaders and travelling mercies to all our Counselors. Our theme for the conference is God s Work Force. COFFEE BREAK NURSERY: Volunteers Needed: We are still in need of nursery help for Coffee break. If you are willing and able please let Amelia Nutma or Sandy Dekker know. Thank you. WEDNESDAY EVENING BIBLE STUDY: will meet D.V. this coming Wednesday at 7:30 pm in the consistory room to discuss lesson 5 entitled "To the Church of Thyatira" based on Revelation 2: BIBLICAL COUNSELLING TRAINING CONFERENCE: February 10-15, Do you believe the Bible has practical teaching for everyday living? Are you interested in learning a Christ centered approach to relationships, advice and accountability? Come for this intense week of seeking and learning from Gods Word! Thank you. HOMELESS KITS: Don t forget to get involved in our effort to provide homeless kits to be passed out at the Salvation Army! We need: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, hats, mittens, scarves, warm socks, feminine hygiene products, wipes, toilet paper, and Bibles. Hi everyone!! For the month of November, the Sunday school children are asked to bring in a gift for the Christmas baskets for the Petrolia food bank. We are asking that each child bring in one gift! Let s share the love of Christ this Christmas!! Today, we have the privilege of performing our song to the congregation!! Let s sing our best and bring a smile to everyone around us!! 5 REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS REFORMATION DAY SERVICE: Westmount CRC, 405 Drury Lane, Strathroy, is hosting the Reformation Day Service TODAY at 6:00pm. Pastor Peter Hoytema, Pastor Derek Bouma (East CRC) and Pastor Phil Apoll (Hope Community CRC) will be leading this service. Nursery will be provided. Only 17 seats still available. Lawn and Yard Maintenance Tender: The JKCS Building Committee is accepting tenders for the lawn & yard maintenance position at the school. This is a threeyear contract.
