And it means, Help us to direct all our living what we think, say, and do so that your name will never be blasphemed because of us but always honored and praised. Don Meekhof TIME OF PRAYER Patrick Striker Call to Confession We do not confess our sins in the hope of forgiveness;

3 we confess our sins with the certainty of forgiveness. For the apostle Paul assures us that we have been rescued from the power of darkness, and transferred into the kingdom of God s beloved son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. And so with that promise, that assurance, that redemption we confess our sins before God and one another. Prayer of Confession Holy God, we confess that we have neglected to declare Jesus the king and model for our lives. We have been quick to call on others to follow the ways of Christ yet slow to do the same. We have been bold in demanding generosity, mercy, and forgiveness yet quiet when it comes to offering inclusion, love, and compassion. Forgive us, O God. Restore in us, yet again, the commitment to be more Christlike in word, in deed, and in spirit. Amen. [Silent Prayer] Assurance of Pardon All things, in heaven and on earth, are reconciled to God in Jesus Christ. Forgiveness is ours through faith in the Lord, in whom God was pleased to dwell. 4 Because we believe that in Jesus Christ, God s time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God has come near, we respond in tangible ways. By doing acts of justice and compassion and by sharing our resources, we bear witness to the good news of the gospel. The offering is received in gratitude to God. *Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below Praise him above ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Prayer of Thanksgiving and Dedication God of life and of new life, bless these gifts that we give that they may further your reign in this world. Let us give generously from that which has been given to us, that through our offerings the good news of Jesus Christ may be fulfilled. They will be my people, and I will be their God. Luke 4:18 19, 21 (NIV) 18 The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord s favor. 21 He began by saying to them, Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. Matthew 24:30 (NIV) Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. Matthew 24:42 (NIV) Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. *SONG OF WORSHIP THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS JUSTICE AND JOY (Hymn #712) (VERSE 1) The kingdom of God is justice and joy; for Jesus restores what sin would destroy. God s power and glory in Jesus we know, and here and hereafter the kingdom shall grow. (VERSE 2)

6 The kingdom of God is mercy and grace; the captives are freed, the sinners find place. The outcasts are welcomed God s banquet to share, and hope is awakened in place of despair. (VERSE 3) The kingdom of God is challenge and choice; believe the good news, repent and rejoice! His love for us sinners brought Christ to his cross, our crisis of judgment for gain or for loss. (VERSE 4) God s kingdom is come, the gift and the goal; in Jesus begun, in heaven made whole. The heirs of the kingdom shall answer his call, and all things cry Glory! to God All-in-all. MESSAGE Rev.
