1 Vision Statement Our vision is to be more than a refuge; it is to be a revitalizing community where all may be saved, healed, strengthened, and equipped to go into the world on active mission for our Lord Jesus Christ. Published by Trinity Baptist Church A Season of Jubilee! by Dr. Ryan Wilson I hereby declare this month as a Season of Jubilee! That s what you might hear as a royal proclamation from a king or queen, but actually it s for us this year! In the book of Leviticus, a jubilee year is mentioned for every 50 th year in which slaves and prisoners would be freed, debts would be forgiven, and the mercies of God would be particularly manifest. Christianity picked up on the concept of jubilee in the 1300 s, and those of faith would usually take a pilgrimage to a holy site. A time of joy and the remission and forgiveness of sins was usually involved, but the idea was to promote a season of thankfulness and celebration of God s goodness! The deacons voted to have a season of Jubilee here at Trinity by giving 100% of the undesignated money that is given over our budget to missions. In light of us paying off our loan, fixing several AC units, buying a new bus, and having such strong giving this year, what a great way to say thanks to God and give back to the needs of the world around us. The Missions Committee has been commissioned to select where the money will go and have selected Our Daily Rest and to help start a new initiative by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship for a 2-3 year missions engagement program. This program allows young people just out of college or seminary to serve around the world and experience their faith in a new, active way. Join in the celebration of Jubilee! Continue to give toward our budget, repent of your sins, and share in the blessings of God s forgiveness! Let us all celebrate what God is doing through Trinity!

2 Rebecca Sires Children s Corner /edisto5@att.net I have truly enjoyed having all of the kids join us for the children s sermon on Sundays. We will continue this through the holidays. I am beyond thankful for all of their smiling faces and happy hearts. Sundays in December will be amazing as we watch the nativity come together each week. Thank you to everyone who has picked an ornament off of the Blessing Tree. It is not too late to participate. Please remember to have all gifts wrapped and returned with the ornament attached by December 13. Wednesday, December 9, our children s choirs will be traveling to Park Place Assisted Living to do some Christmas caroling. We will leave the church at 6:00 and be back by 7:15. Feel free to join us as we spread some holiday cheer. Our GA s will be passing out comfort pillows they have been making. Our Children s choirs will all be singing in worship on Sunday, December 13, at 10:30. Emergency Christmas Sunday, December 13, 5:45. Meet in the Fellowship Hall parking lot and we will carol to the Fire Dept. as we join our friends from St. Mark and the community in sharing the spirit of Christmas. Bring a few dollars to throw into the stocking for the United Way. We will make crafts, drink hot cocoa, eat cookies, sing carols, and wait on the arrival of a very popular, jolly old man. This will be one holiday event you won t want to miss. Our annual Thanksmas breakfast will be Sunday, December 20, at 8:45. If you volunteer in any way throughout the church, please join us. This is our way of saying thank you for your dedication and time to Trinity! I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year. I can t wait to see what is in store for the life of our church in It is going to be amazing!!! Preston Cooley Youth News Happy Holidays everyone! I hope you have recovered from Thanksgiving meals and Black Friday shopping just in time for well more eating and more shopping! Christmas is my favorite time of year, I love all the time spent with family, the food, the music, the mood, and the part where there s no school! The decorations are beautiful, especially in our sanctuary. It s a wonderful place to celebrate the birth of our Savior. I will be preaching December 27 th. That will be my first time delivering a Christmas message, and I m very excited to have the opportunity. Speaking of opportunities, the youth have a couple of great opportunities coming up. First, the lock-in will be here at Trinity on December 18 at 5:30. We will load up in vehicles and head to some houses for a progressive dinner. Following those stops, we will head to Walmart to load up on some secret Santa gifts; then head back to the church for games and movies. Later in the evening we will head to the Sires house for some ice cream; then head back to the church to spend the rest of the night running around playing grog and underground church. There will be a sign-up sheet for any parents or other volunteers to participate in the dinner, chaperoning, or providing snacks. This is one of the youth group s favorite events, and I hope you will come be a part of it! Our Ski Retreat is rapidly approaching as well! Pamphlets are available in the office which provide every detail from what to pack to payment schedules. We will be heading to Winterplace, West Virginia, and staying in the manor house again. We can sleep 40 people at the house. Let me know ASAP if your youth can come. Both the lockin and the retreat are events where we encourage youth to bring a friend along. If you have a parent outside the church that needs information on either event, contact the office or me or refer them to our website at trinitybaptistyouth.com. I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday!

3 Susan Brock, Preschool Director Dear Trinity Family, October and November have been busy months for the Preschool. In October the Preschoolers traveled to our house for the Pumpkin Patch. It was a beautiful fall day, and the children enjoyed a hayride, duck race, story time, and hot chocolate. At the end of the morning, each child got to go into the pumpkin patch to pick their pumpkin. A big shout-out to "Mr. Curtis" for working so hard each year to make this happen. On behalf of myself, Kelly, and Chris, we offer our sincere thanks for your thoughts, prayers during Debbie s illness and passing, the cards, and food delivered to us. This is truly an important part of what a church does and Trinity has always been there for us. Sincerely, Gregg Davis In November the students enjoyed learning about the Pilgrims and Indians. Our chapel focus has been on being thankful. Our Bible verse for November is, We give thanks to God. Colossians 1:3. On November 24 we will have our annual Thanksgiving Feast for the students, and then the parents will join us for our Chapel service lead by Ryan. This is always an exciting time for the children. We will end November by participating in the Seneca Christmas Parade. During December we will have many fun activities. The children will practice hard for the Christmas Program on Tuesday, December 15, at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy this fun-filled night. Ravenel Elementary Student Council will be reading to our students on December 11. The last week of preschool before Christmas will be our Christmas Spirit Week with a different theme each day. Hopefully, we will have a special visitor during the last week. Santa has been invited to stop by and check on all the children. The Preschool Staff wish each of you a very Joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year Advent Devotional We welcome the following people to our Trinity Church Family. Linda Sui and Lily Li joined the church on November 1, 2015, by profession of faith and baptism. They reside at 1500 S. 5 Music, Missions, and More Rev. Tony Vincent Advent Singing the Songs of the Season(s) Each year during Advent we try to balance the spirit of the season with our desire to sing the familiar songs celebrating Christ s birth. Every time we turn on the radio we re inundated with the music of Christmas, and we can easily lose sight of the fact that Advent is a season of anticipation: looking forward to what God will do for us in the birth of Jesus. So this Advent season, which begins November 29, we will try to strike a balance between anticipation (O Come, O Come Emmanuel) and celebration (Joy to the World!). Please take note of all the musical opportunities that abound throughout the Advent and Christmas seasons here at Trinity and in our community. It is such a joy to hear the varied ways that we lift our voices to celebrate the coming Christ-Child. Take special note of our guests, the Foothills Chorale, here at Trinity on December 6 at 3:00 pm. Let s do what we can to support this fine civic ensemble and fill up our sanctuary that day! LLL Senior Adult Christmas Party Friday, December 4, 6:00 pm International Deli, Seneca Our annual Christmas party is a wonderful event, and this year we will gather at International Deli here in Seneca for an excellent meal. Our program will be led by Caleb Hopkins, Minister of Music at Boulevard Baptist in Anderson; he ll share with us some beautiful music to get us in the spirit of the season. The deadline to sign up is Sunday, No- vember 29, and the cost (payable at the event) is $15 per person. Sign up today! I still keep an old Southern Baptist rice bowl on my desk to remind me of our rich Baptist heritage of supporting Global Missions during the Advent and Christmas seasons. With so much excitement about giving during this holiday season, please remember that heritage and join in to give to support our field personnel around the world by giving to our Global Missions offering. 100% of the money given to this offering will support our missionaries in the field. Please give using the Global Missions envelopes or mark a regular offering envelope Global Missions.
