Published by Trinity Baptist Church Dramatization of the Last Supper by Dr. Ryan Wilson I hope that you will try to be at Trinity on Wednesday night, March 27 th at 6:30 in the sanctuary. Instead of a Maundy Thursday service or Good Friday service this year, we will have a dramatization of the Last Supper on Wednesday night with 13 men from our congregation dressing up and playing the parts of Jesus and the 12 gathered around the table. In 1494 Leonardo da Vinci produced his famous painting of the Last Supper. He tried to capture the look of consternation and dismay on each disciple s face in response to Jesus saying, One of you will betray me. We will re-enact the scene that da Vinci painted and each disciple will look within himself and talk about his journey and end by asking, Lord is it I? Hopefully, through the drama, it will call each one of us to look into our own journeys and our own hearts and ask the same question, Lord is it I? If we re honest, we will realize that each one of us plays a part in denying and betraying Jesus. But the Good News of Easter is that Jesus offers us forgiveness and the opportunity for recommitment. Try your best to be here it will help you prepare for our Sunrise service on Easter morning (6:30). Ryan Have you considered giving stock? Now may be a good time. With the market up, you may want to consider giving the church appreciated stock toward our building fund or even our budget. Here's how it works. Donors give appreciated stock (owned for more than one year) directly to the church without selling it first. This is normally a transfer of stock from the donor's brokerage account into the church's brokerage account (call Debbie to find out this information ). The value of the gift is the value of the stock on the day of the transfer. This value becomes a charitable deduction amount for those people who itemize on their tax returns. Because the donor does not sell the stock but transfers ownership directly, then the donor is not liable for the capital gains tax on the increase in value from purchase price to transfer price. The capital gains tax is bypassed. When Trinity receives stock in our brokerage account, the stock is usually sold within 7 days. Because the church is a non profit organization, it does not owe tax even though it realized the gain in value with the sale of the stock. It's a win/win...the donor gets a tax deduction and doesn't pay capital gains taxes and the church often receives a larger gift without the tax implications. Have you considered giving stock?

2 Notes From Jo Vickery I want to thank our choir members, as well as our choir directors and assistants, for being so faithful and for teaching our children and youth about Christ s love through music each week. We have immediately gone from Christmas music to preparation for Lent and Easter. You will be hearing all our choirs throughout this month as they sing for us in worship services. Each choir leader will notify parents of their child s Sunday to sing. Cantata books and CDs are available for our adult choir members and prospects who would like to sing with us. We will be singing one of the anthems each week, climaxing on Easter Sunday. There is still time for you to participate and sing the joyful news of Christ s resurrection! Several of our anthems include solos. March 17 is Youth Sunday. We always are blessed by their music and their leadership as they experience how God can lead them. They are the future leaders in our church and they will grow in their faith as they serve God in our worship services. We have been blessed to have new members to join our fellowship these past three Sundays. New members have an open invitation to join our choir. For those who are not members, but are willing to use your talents, we welcome you as well. Come with a song in your heart! We have plenty of seats and robes. Our rehearsals are on Wednesday nights at 7:15pm. Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Psalm100:1-2 NIV Tony Vincent Minister of Christian Education Hours that Changed the World Wednesday Night Study Beginning Feb 27 th we ll be discussing the last 24 hours of Jesus life on Wednesday nights leading up to Holy Week. We will watch a short video that will show us scenes from historical sites around Jerusalem, and then we ll discuss what these parts of the story mean for us today. I hope you ll be with us on Wednesdays at 6:30 in the Sanctuary to discuss the most impactful event in human history. Sabbath Soup Kitchen Success Stories! That s a lot of S words, but how else can we describe how wonderful our first month of service was at the Sabbath Soup Kitchen? Many thanks to the groups who sacrificed time, energy, money, and even worship-time to go and serve the people of our community who need to feel God s love. There are four churches rotating months at this time, so Trinity will serve again in a few months. If your class or small group is interested in serving, please go ahead and let our Missions Committee know! Thanks also to the Missions Committee for their good work and excellent communication with everyone involved! An Update on the Twins Thanks to you all for the continuing love shown Kristen and me as we have welcomed Carter and Caroline into our home. We ve still got some time before we ll be bringing them to church, but we look forward to them getting to know Trinity and all of your faces (and hugs!). I ve so appreciated the time I ve been given to spend at home with my family, and Kristen and the girls are doing well. Just ask to see pictures!

3 Youth News from Kelli Callahan I just want to give a huge thank you to everyone who made the Valentine Love-In happen as well as everyone that came out and supported our youth! It was a great success and it wouldn't have been possible without all of you. February was an exciting and full month with activities and it was a lot of fun! Youth activities are still going strong on Wednesday nights and Sunday nights. Just a few dates to remember: March 17th - Youth Sunday - Youth will need to wear khaki pants/skirts as well as our new youth shirts. June 8th-11th Youth Choir Trip - Be looking out for more information on this! July 7th-12th - Passport camp at Wingate Thanks again and I hope that everyone has a great March and has been able to keep strong for the Lent season! Preston Cooley Children s News Hello everyone, our regular spring activities are in full swing, and (so far) things are going great! Our children's musical is coming along nicely, and I appreciate the kids efforts in preparing that. The performance dates are April 27th and 28th. Coming up on the 23rd of March is our Easter egg hunt at noon, and this will be my first Trinity Easter egg hunt, so I am looking forward to seeing your families there. If anyone is willing to help Cherry Bell with the younger Bible study, please talk to me or Cherry. That runs through the night of the March 17th on every Sunday. 5 Fellow Trinity Members: Domestic Violence is the dirty little secret no one is willing to talk about, but it is pervasive in our community. It cuts across all socio-economic sectors. In fact, one in four women will suffer from domestic violence during their lifetime. You may not know it, but right now, you know someone who is dealing with it or who has dealt with it in their past. It may be a neighbor, acquaintance, family member, or a co-worker. Jim and I, along with a host of other people, have been working hard over the past few years to secure a shelter for victims of domestic violence. This effort was started by Jenna Henson Smith and Martha Frady with Women Alive several years ago. The good news is that we have signed a contract on a house that will serve as a local shelter for those who need to find a safe and secure place to call home. We have one year to close on the house. In the meantime, we need the community to come together and help us secure the necessary funds to purchase the house and to support operations for three years. You might ask why three years? We want to make sure that there are enough funds up front until the generosity of the community can sustain it in the future. Why is this so important to us? I grew up in an abusive home with an alcoholic step-father. I heard the arguments, I watched the dismantling of things around me; I felt the abuse personally. I watched my mother endure it until my younger sister graduated from high school. She left the very next day. I want to make sure that those in our community have a shelter. My mother has told me that our community didn t have one. I don t want another child to grow up in fear of what could happen next or another woman to experience what my mother endured. Several of our committee members have similar stories. God has instilled a burning desire in my heart to help others who find themselves in this situation and Jim has long had the same burden to help the abused. Through God s unwavering love, he has helped me overcome my past. I am a survivor. Now, I want to help others regain HOPE for the future and become survivors as well. God gave us spouses to protect and to love us, not to inflict abuse. Look at your family members and ask what you would do if they were in that situation? Further, did you know it costs businesses in the United States $7-8 billion per year? We can all make a difference. Are you willing to help make this happen? Are you willing to serve on the Advisory Committee consisting of capital fundraising, marketing or facilities? Are you willing to make a gift, whether it is small or large, to help those who have become innocent victims of the one mortal person? Will you simply help us spread the word?
