1 Towards Christmas In this service we trace the way to Christmas from the announcement made to Mary by the Archangel Gabriel to the birth of Jesus, from Nazareth to Bethlehem. On this journey, which we make in heart and mind, we pause at each of nine stations, to reflect and pray with the help of pictures, which will be displayed above the choir. 6.30pm Sunday 20th December 2015 St Wilfrid s Church, Gilstead.

Almighty God, whose blessed Son took our human nature so that we might regain our lost innocence and be restored to the divine image that was disfigured by sin, grant that as we meditate on the mystery of his humanity we may share the glory of his divinity, who lives and reigns in the unity of the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and for ever. 8 1. My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour; he has looked with favour on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed; R. 2. the Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his name. He has mercy on those who fear him, from generation to generation. R. 3. He has shown strength with his arm and has scattered the proud in their conceit, Casting down the mighty from their thrones and lifting up the lowly. R. 4. [MEN] To heal the sick stretch out Your hand, make wholeness flow at Your command; sin's devastation now restore earth's own true loveliness once more. 5. Almighty God, grant to us, who have followed our Lord through the time of his coming to earth, the peace promised by the angels, the simple trust of the shepherds, and the love of the Holy Family in our homes and in all our lives, through Jesus Christ our Saviour. R. Amen. Jesus taught us to call God our Father, and so we have the courage to say: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. 30. The Blessing. V.
