3 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Praise the Lord! As you all know, the torrential rain and heavy floods over the past few months has devastated the state of Kerala, India. According to the Economic Times of India, More than 370 deaths due to the flood have been reported A Rs. 4,441 Crore loss to the government following the damage to roads and bridges with at least 220 bridges damaged More than 33,000 people have been rescued by different agencies. Over 7.24 lakh people are staying in the 5,645 relief camps. Kerala's Chief Minister had earlier said 2 million people had taken shelter in camps since the monsoon rains began. In light of this terrible predicament, many are wondering why this has happened and countless interpretations have arisen to provide explanation. I do not purport to have all the answers but, our understanding of the Scripture reminds us that there is something wrong for even whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth (Romans 8:18-23). However, we can still find reason to hope, because we believe in God who is the just Judge and Creator of all. So, let us shift our focus from the disaster to our Master. God is Sovereign and Ruler of all creation. In the book of the prophet Daniel 4, King Nebuchadnezzar, declares, His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: What have you done?. God is good, and His goodness is beyond human vocabulary. God s goodness has an ultimate purpose within the mystery of His eternal divine plan. So, to affirm God s sovereignty is to also to faithfully affirm the wisdom of His purpose in all of creation. Also, God is more than the Ruler of all Creation, God is Love incarnate in Jesus Christ and despite all the suffering that surrounds, He will never forsake us and will draw near to us in our experience of brokenness (Isaiah 57:15). In other words, in times of pain and loss God is our personal refuge and lifts our chin up to see hope, life and love even in the most difficult moments. Let us put our complete faith and hope in our Lord God and we will never be disappointed! Move forward in the Lord! May the Lord God bless us all! When the summer begins, they put their books aside and try to enjoy their vacation. But there is one book that we can never lay aside, and that book is the Bible. The Bible provides us with history, poetry, prophecy, and doctrine. The Bible teaches us about a person s relationship to God and to each other. The Bible teaches us about God s love for us and His purpose for us. The Bible teaches us how we can obtain salvation by believing in God and living a life that is in accordance with God s will. Even though there are parts of the Bible that are thousands of years old, the message of the Bible is still relevant today. The Bible provides us with instructions for how to live our life. Someone once said that Bible stands for: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth Though we are all busy with so many things, we should always make time for the important things. We should always remember that our life here is temporary and one day we will have to give an account of our life. By the Grace of God may we all live our life in accordance with God s will. Rev.
