If I ve learned anything about friendship, it s to hang in, stay connected, says journalist Jon Katz. Don t walk away, don t be distracted, don t be too busy or tired, don t take them for granted. Friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together. This applies to church life too. When we re annoyed by some aspect of congregational life or caught in conflict with other members, it s tempting to drift away to another church or no church. Even when all is fine, we sometimes let church take a back seat. But our bonds with the family of God are part of the glue that holds life and faith together. For the sake of the benefits we gain and give, may we hang in [and] stay connected with our church family. May we not walk away [or] be distracted,... be too busy or tired. May we not take one another for granted but thank God for this glue even when things get a bit sticky! Church info@trinityucc hanover.org A well-shaken tree For several years I have read the Bible through twice in 12 months. It is a great and powerful tree, each word of which is a mighty branch. Each of these branches have I well shaken, so desirous was I to know what each one bore and what it would give me. And the shaking of them has never disappointed me. On Sunday, October 14, from 2:00-4:00 we will gather in Fellowship Hall for an afternoon of games, Parcheesi, Monopoly, Scrabble, various card games, your favorite board games. We will have some games here and encourage you to bring your favorite. Rumor has it that we can learn the game that has taken Homewood by storm; Mexican Train! Coffee and cold drinks will be available and we are asking folks to bring a very simple dessert to share. Put this date and time on your calendar! The Sunday before Halloween, October 28, the Christian Education Committee will be hosting a fellowship time that will be a little different. Coffee and drinks will be available as usual. The church will supply sugar cookies, icing, sprinkles and other edible decorations and one and all can decorate their own very special Halloween cookie(s). But before you bite into your masterpiece, submit it to a panel of Halloween judges. The best decorated cookie wins. First, second, and third prizes will be awarded! It seems early to remind you of this but November will be here before you know it. A reminder that on Saturday, November 3, set your clocks back an hour before bedtime. Daylight Saving Time ends. November 11 falls on Sunday this year. As is our custom, we will recognize our veterans and thank them for their service. Sunday, November 18 Trinity will celebrate its 135th anniversary. The actual anniversary date is December 13 (1883), however that date falls mid-week deep in Advent. Bill Spangler has been hard at work sifting through the church s archives (dusty work) and the results of his labor will be on display in Fellowship Hall. The worship service that day will recognize and honor Trinity s past and celebrate our future. Peace, Pastor Peg

You can visit the website to verify correct school assignment. Also, don t forget to encourage your friends and rela ves to do the same. It could mean more cash for our school. A er you register your card, each shopping trip at GIANT using your BONUSCARD earns cash for our school. Each month, the amount of cash awarded will be updated on the GIANT website. You can track the amount of points you earn for our school by checking your grocery receipt and online when you create an account at h p: oodstores.com. Our school will receive a check at the end of the program. The money can be used for any of our school s educa onal needs. Hartman Center Fall Festival Come on out for the annual Hartman Center Fall Festival! A fundraising event packed with lots of fun to support the outdoor ministry programs of the Penn Central Conference. This year s Fall Festival is Saturday, October 13th, 10am-3pm. Enjoy pork BBQ, hot dogs, chili & homemade soups along with many tasty baked goods. There will be live music, a silent auction, hayrides, craft artisans, face painting, and a bounce house just to mention a few. There s something for everyone making it the perfect fall family outing!
