Five decades on, turmoil still abounds. May we take hope and inspiration from Robert Kennedy, who, on the night of Martin Luther King s death, replaced a presidential-campaign speech with these words: What we need in the United States is not division; not hatred; not violence and lawlessness, but love, and wisdom, and compassion toward one another; and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or black. Kennedy added: We will have difficult times in the future. But the vast majority of white people and black people in this country want to live together and want justice for all human beings. Let's dedicate ourselves to tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world and say a prayer for our country and for our people. A prayer for families Heavenly Father, we come as your children to praise you for putting us into families. Thank you for the love and nourishment we ve received and been blessed to give. We confess our need for your daily forgiveness and guidance in our families. Please grant harmony in our homes and help us always show respect and love for one another. In Jesus name. Amen. 4 VOLUME 6 PAGE 4 Homewood Auxiliary Tea Homewood at Plum Creek cordially invites you to Angels Among Us on Saturday, June 23rd or Tuesday, June 26th in the Windows Dining Room beginning at 12:30pm. The cost of the tea is $20. The auxiliary is also seeking donated prizes for the tea. There will be two hanging wall quilts to be raffled off at $2 for one ticket or $5 for three tickets. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, June 26th. You need not be present. Zachary Olsen, grandson of Bill & Gail Stelger graduated from Stevenson University, Owings Mills MD, with a degree in Visual Communication and Design. Luke Romberg, grandson of Bill & Gail Stelger graduated from The International School in Berne, Switzerland. Luke plans to attend Oxford University, Brookes Campus UK, and major in motor sports engineering. Alexandra L. Frost, granddaughter of Dorothy O Leary graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in Columbia, Missouri. Adam Hart, grandson of Daryl Mummert graduated from Methodist University, Fayetteville NC, with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Eliza Mummert, granddaughter of Daryl Mummert graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park MD, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. William Wesley Reichart III, son of Bill & Abby Reichart graduated from the University of Virginia with a Juris Doctorate. Wes will be employed by DLA Piper Global Law Firm in Baltimore, Maryland.

7 PAGE 5 TRINITY TIMES It s Time for Vacation Bible School! Join us for another fun-filled week of VBS! Our theme this year is ShipWrecked Rescued By Jesus. Save the week June from 9-11:30am. Children will enjoy an interactive, energizing, Bible-based good time as they discover their strength in God via Bible stories and verses, music, crafts, games, and snacks. As always we need volunteers, estimating 2 adults for 15 children which does not include session leaders and snack preparers. All adult volunteers must undergo the statemandated background checks if they have not already done so. Please see Pastor Peg or Diane Betlyon to volunteer. They will give you information on background check sign-up. The background checks are easy to do so please don t let that discourage you from volunteering. Registration & helper forms can be found on the church website at: Click on the tabs. **Trinity Times Summer Schedule** Please note due to the summer months bringing a lull in activities at the church, the newsletters for July and August will again be combined. The deadline for submission of articles for the July/August newsletter is June 15th. We will resume the normal newsletter schedule beginning in September. The deadline for September newsletter articles is August 15th. If you have any questions, please contact Betsy in the church office at Worship Time Change!! Please note the change to the worship time on Sunday, July 8. Worship will begin one hour later at 10:00am. The Christian Education Team featuring master griller Steve Hutton, will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs /sausages after the service and the time change allows us to enjoy this summertime fare for lunch instead of breakfast or brunch. So, please join us for worship at 10am and stay for the picnic afterwards. Look for a sign-up sheet on the narthex bulletin board in the near future. Even though you may go on a vacation this summer, the utility bills and various expenses of operating the church do not. Please keep in mind the need for Trinity to meet these financial obligations and thank you for continuing to support Trinity with your monetary contributions and gifts. Have a great summer!
