7 St. Kilian Catholic Church Page 7 Instructions for Parishioners who receive low gluten hosts for Holy Communion: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the Mass. Place your personal Pyx containing an unconsecrated host into the small Pyx ciborium on the gift table located at the entrance to the Church. Locate and advise an usher that you will be receiving Holy Communion using your Pyx. Sit in the middle aisle area so that you may be ushered to the front of the Priest s line to receive Holy Communion prior to the rest of the assembly. 8 Page 8 Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Santiago de Compostela Catholic Church in Lake Forest is believed to be the only church in the world that shares the same name as Santiago de Compostela in Spain! In 2015, pastor Fr. Thomas Naval, sought more closely to align his church with its namesake, as well as the spiritual nature of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its traditions. So, he set the task of recreating the Camino de Santiago experience through a one-day pilgrimage event, including a Camino walk, on the weekend before or after July 25 th, the Feast Day of Santiago de Compostela (i.e., the date of the discovery of the tomb and relics of St. James). This year, the parish anticipates over 1,000 pilgrims participating in its 4 th annual Camino de Santiago. Pilgrims will walk one of two Camino routes: 4.3 miles or 7.0 miles, depending on their preference. After checking-in at the church plaza, they are bussed to their respective Camino starting points. From there, it is all walking trails leading back to the church. For those unable to walk the aforementioned routes, SDC hosts a short on-campus walk with activities mirroring those of the longer Camino. Festivities follow upon the pilgrims return. VBS 2018 SERVICE PROJECT OPERATION CHISTMAS CHILD Shoe Box Goodies This year VBS will be supporting OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD by donating items to fill shoe boxes that will benefit OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD. You can go online to see a complete list of items that are needed. Some simple and fun gifts ideas include: stuffed animals, dolls, toys, craft activities, school supplies, combs, brushes, musical instruments etc You can bring your items to the Religious Education office anytime or during the week of VBS, July 30-August 3. 10 Page 10 Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Do you struggle with anxiety or depression? St. Kilian Church offers a support group for those who struggle with anxiety and/or depression. Our group meets on Thursday evenings in the Parish Center at 6:30 p.m. This is not therapy or professional counseling but IS a place where we can share our stories and walk the journey of anxiety and depression together, with others who share our struggle. You may join our group at any time. There is no registration or fee. Just come and join us as we support each other and walk together in faith and love. Questions?
