3 DEAR HOLY FAMILY PARISHIONERS: I want to thank all those from the parish who remembered my 62nd birthday last Sunday! I appreciate the cards, calls, s, texts, gifts, goodies, prayers, & all the rest. You helped my special day to be extraspecial. And, thank you to those who sent cards, prayers, gifts, & wellwishes to you mom on her 95th birthday. She had a smile on her face because of your kindness. And because she smiled, so did I! AND, speaking of special---we are blessed as Catholics to have the most special gift given to us by Jesus to remember him. Yes, the EUCHARIST. EACH DAY of this coming week we have Mass celebrated at Holy Family. EACH DAY of this coming week there is the opportunity to receive the Body & Blood of Christ. EACH DAY of this coming week Jesus will be present on the altar to nourish us with Himself fully & completely. EACH DAY of this coming week the Word of God will be opened at Mass, showing us what the Lord calls us to be & how we are to act. EACH DAY of this coming week we can gather to pray the greatest prayer of the Church---the Mass. EACH DAY of this coming week the Lord invites us to come to church & spend time with him at Mass. What can be more special than that? See how this coming week is full of excitement & faith? What a privilege it is for us as Catholics to gather with one another & with the Lord. No sporting event, or concert, or TV program, or video game, or meal at a restaurant, or meeting, or errand should deter us or get in the way of us celebrating the EUCHARIST. I do ask you to do one thing this week besides trying to come to daily Mass. PLEASE IN- VITE AT LEAST ONE PERSON BACK TO MASS. I bet we all know someone who hasn t been to church lately or has fallen off in their practice of the Catholic faith. YOU can be the catalyst for coming back that they need. YOU can be the hospitable person who welcomes them back into the parish. YOU can be that disciple for the Lord, attracting others to the Lord Jesus. YOU can help that person discover Christ in their daily life. Don t just think about doing it. DO IT! The Lord is waiting for you to ask someone back. The Lord wants them here to celebrate. The Lord desires His faithful to be active in their faith. And YOU can be the agent of that message. Will YOU? See YOU in church!!! YOUR PASTOR, FATHER JOE
4 ANNUAL CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL Have you given generously to the Annual Catholic Services Appeal yet? If not, PLEASE do so for the good of the Springfield Diocese & A C S A for the good of Holy Family Parish. Why? Because we have to pay the assessed goal of $67,989. It will either come from our contributions outright to this worthy cause, or it will come from our General Fund. We can help our budget by NOT having to make up a deficit amount from our regular monies. ALL OF US can help meet the goal. And remember----any monies donated to the ACSA that exceed our assessment are returned to us!!! FORMED.ORG is for being formed in our Catholic Faith. To get started, go to & click on Register. Our case sensitive parish code is JMN63Q. ST. MARY S WIDOWED SUPPORT GROUP will meet Thurs., Oct. 25 at 11:30 a.m. at Tuscany Steak & Pasta House. All widows & widowers are welcome! For more info., call James Vogel at Share the Love! Donate Blessing Bag Items Could you imagine going through life without the basics: toothbrush, toothpaste, clean water, deodorant or even socks? For many of our local area homeless, this is everyday life. This is where YOU can help! Our Youth Group is collecting blessing bag items. Travel size items work the best. Suggested items: Toothbrushes and Toothpaste, Shampoo and Conditioners, Body Wash / Hand sanitizer, Nail clippers and Hair combs, Female sanitary needs, Wet wipes / Baby wipes, Tissue packs and Chapstick, Deodorant/ Lotion / Sunblock, Band aids or mini First Aid Kits, Pocket rain ponchos. Just because it s not on the list doesn t mean it s not needed. Your donation will make an impact on someone s life. A donation box is in the vestibule of the church for your donations. Lord of Creation & Salvation, we need you now more than ever. We, the Church, are hurting. Increase our faith in Your presence in the Church at this time. Heal our hearts; encourage us in our faith; deepen our commitment to You; enliven us with a renewed love for all that is good & holy. Never let any of us depart from You or the Catholic Church, our true home. AMEN. A PRAYER FOR OUR CHURCH Heavenly Father, in every age, you have been our refuge. Yet again and still, we stand before you asking for your protection on your holy Church. For the victims of abuse and their families, pour out your healing and your peace. For the Bishops of this country, continue to inspire their decisions, and guide them with your Spirit. For the thousands of good and faithful priests, who have followed your call to serve you and your people in holiness, sustain them by your grace. For the faithful who are angry, confused, and searching for answers, embrace them with your love, restore their trust, console them with your clear Gospel message, and renew them with your sacraments. We place our Church in your hands, for without you we can do nothing. May Jesus, our High Priest and true compass, continue to lead her in every thought and action-to be an instrument of justice, a source of consolation, a sacrament of unity, and a manifestation of your faithful covenant. Grant this through that same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
