Pope John Paul II Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, in St. Dominic Chapel, begins after the Tuesday 8:30 a.m. Mass and continues until Benediction at 6:45 p.m. We recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:15 p.m., Divine Office evening prayer (Vespers) and evening Divine Mercy Chaplet prayed at 6:00 p.m. All ages are welcome. The members of the St. Luke St. Vincent de Paul Society will be in the church gathering space after all Masses to receive your monetary donations. Your continued generosity is appreciated! 40 DAYS FOR LIFE: The fall campaign for 40 Days for Life is from September 26 th - November 4 th. During this time, we pray and fast to end abortion. St. Luke has been assigned Fridays from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. to silently pray in front of the Women s Medical Center located at 1401 E. Stroop Road in Kettering. We are looking for volunteers willing to devote an hour so that we can fill the sidewalks with people standing up for life. If you are already joining us, we encourage you to reach out and bring someone with you. If you have never participated before and are nervous, let us know and we can team you up with one of our veteran prayer warriors. We can never have enough people protecting the lives of preborn babies. This Sunday, September 23 rd, there will be an Opening Rally in front of the Women s Medical Center at 2:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to hear from local pro life supporters. CLOW is intended to help children pray better and reflect on God s Word. The children are invited to come forward for a special blessing toward the beginning of Mass and then they walk to St. Dominic Chapel with 2 CLOW leaders. CLOW continues to need 2 VIRTUS trained adults at each session of the 5:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. Mass. In our efforts to ensure the safety of the children who attend, we are asking that 2 VIRTUS trained adults sign up for this ministry. If we are unable to have 2 VIRTUS trained adults sign up, CLOW will not be offered at that Mass. LUKE SCHOOL PLANT SALE PICK UP DATE CHANGE Monday, September 24 th, 2:00-5:45 p.m. at Bishop Ford Hall; follow the signs to the pick up area MORNING AND AFTERNOON CAR/BUS CHANGES: Those who attend daily Mass have noticed a change in how our students are being dropped off in the morning and that impacts your arriving and leaving from Mass. Beavercreek City Schools made a change in how they are busing our students in the morning which meant more students would be car riders and there would be fewer buses. We developed a new and hopefully safer drop off for the morning. Parents are entering from North Fairfield and dropping off the students in front of school and then exiting back onto North Fairfield. The time that appears to be the most congested is between 7:45-7:55. Buses are dropping off students in the back of school. Afternoon procedures remain the same with buses out front and car riders in the back. I have asked parents to be aware that many people are moving in and around the parking lot at this time of the day and to make sure they are moving cautiously and carefully. Your safety is very important and I hope that if you have any suggestions or concerns you will contact me. Principal Vondrell VIRTUS Protecting God s Children Sessions on the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Decree on Child Protection: All employees and regular volunteers in the Archdiocese who have contact with children are required to be trained using VIRTUS materials. St. Luke will host its next session on Tuesday, October 16 th. Check-in begins at 6:00 p.m. No child care provided. To register or to get a list of available training dates, go to org. LUKE CHRISTMAS BAZAAR NOVEMBER 17 th -18 th While cold weather and the Christmas Season seem a long way off, it s not too soon to start thinking about the St. Luke Christmas Bazaar and ways you can help with this year s event: Used Books/DVDs/CDs: Please drop off your used books, DVDs and CDs at the Jansen Center, large donations can be picked up. 6 TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME 6 AROUND THE AREA Novena of Holy Hours with St. Therese of Lisieux: Join members of the Dayton Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites for their annual Novena of Holy Hours with St. Therese of Lisieux. It is now through September 30 th, from 7:00-8:00 p.m., at St. Peter s Church Adoration Chapel in Huber Heights. A theme and reflection will be given each night to help us learn how to practice the Little Way and grow in prayer. There will be plenty of quiet time to pray and reflect. A first class relic of St. Therese will also be available for blessings. Please come join us and pray! Call Frances for more information at The 14 th Annual Blue Mass Celebration: Please join us at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains in Cincinnati on Sunday, September 30 th as we pray for and honor the police, fire and safety personnel. The celebration begins on the plaza at 10:45 a.m. with the singing of the National Anthem. Police Chaplain, Reverend Steve Angi, will bless the equipment on Plum Street, followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. and a light reception back on the plaza after Mass. During Mass the names of deceased will be read. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to join together in support of those who keep us safe. Women s Morning of Reflection: Please join us on Tuesday, October 2 nd, at St. Peter s Church, for a Morning of Reflection. We will focus on the life of St. Katherine Drexel and her Gift of Service. We will begin in the church with Mass at 9:30 a.m., followed by a spiritual reflection, meditation, and a social, ending at noon. Reconciliation will be available.
