Words alone cannot express the deep heartfelt appreciation my family wishes to extend to you all for the generosity shown to us during this most difficult time. The overwhelming attention from everyone has meant more than you will ever know. It, with the Grace of God, has been the sustaining force of our strength enduring the loss of our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Thank you seems too simple of words to convey our gratitude to everyone for the many gifts you have given us. Bishop Barnes, thank you for your attendance and kind words offered to the family. Mike loved being a Deacon and felt honored that he was given the privilege to serve his community in such a capacity. Fr. Frank, thank you for the beautiful homily and message of life and love. It was very uplifting and so very true about the life of Deacon Mike. Deacon Ernie Lara and Deacon Jim Weber, your words spoken at the Vigil were of great comfort for our family. Valerie Doran, you gave us an amazing gift of two beautiful services celebrating Deacon Mike s life. All the key details were there, just as he wanted. Thank you! All of you who make up the Bereavement committee, thank you for your care, attention, and grace shown to our family. From the setup of the hall to arranging and serving the food for the reception, EVERYTHING was beyond wonderful. Thank you! Gary Owens and your music team - Outstanding job Gary! Deacon Mike was smiling (and dancing) I am sure. Lisa Upattiya and the Youth Ministry, THANK YOU for the beautiful song given, Remember Me. This was very special to us, knowing how Deacon Mike loved the youth of our parish. Thank you for participating and remembering him in such a beautiful way. Mark Lohman from Acheson and Graham and all his staff, what blessings each of you were to our family. You were friends to Deacon Mike and you are friends to our family. Thank you. Our beloved Knights of Columbus Council, you were wonderful. All of you in attendance, those serving as Altar Servers, paying him honors with the plaque and certificate. The 4 th Degree and their honors of escorting Deacon Mike in and out of the service. Thank you, Gentlemen! Our beloved Diaconate community. What a gift you all are to the community. You lifted my spirits when I saw all of you coming up for communion. A great strength washed over me to see you all there supporting us and honoring Deacon Mike. Thank you. To the great community of support here at St. Thomas the Apostle, your actions during this difficult time demonstrated to our family that Deacon Mike was well loved and for that we thank you. Deacon Mike loved nothing more than being here at St. Thomas and talking to you, the parishioners. You were a source of strength for him and he found great joy in sharing stories and hearing your stories shared. To you all, your presence made the empty void feel so much smaller and easier. Thank you for your generous hearts. As we continue on in this journey we hope that you will continue to pray for us and we will continue to pray for all of you. Many teachers pay for supplies out of their own pocket when the school budget gets tight. Each class has kids. Rites of Initiation for Adults (RCIA) Rites of Initiation for Adults-Adapted for Children (RCIA-AC) Registration is now open! Parent meeting will be July 16 th in MC-1 at 10:00 a.m., dismissals start July 23 rd. RCIA-AC is for children 7-17 years old and have not been baptized Catholic. Our journey includes 30 min. dismissals at the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass, online faith building activities, and once-a-month Parent/Child intensives in place of weekly classes. We re looking for new People of the Cloth ministers to clean the liturgical linens once a month. Training is provided. For more information, please call Deanna in the Parish Office. If you have any experience answering phones, or in customer service and would like to volunteer on an asneed basis, please contact the Parish Office at (951) There will be a second collection at all Masses on the weekend of July 7-8 th. Funds will go to Catholic Relief Services in order to provide disaster relief in Guatemala. Taize Prayer Our shared prayer is held on the 2 nd Monday of every month at 7:00-8:00 p.m. Next meeting will be on July 9 th at First Christian Church 4055 Jurupa Ave. A Big Thank You to our Bereavement Hospitality who lovingly donate delicious food and generous time to families who have lost a loved one. Your contributions have soothed the stressful hearts of those in their grieving times. Families are always touched by your generosity and often comment to me on how kind this group is. So I want to pass on this message to Thank You for serving in your ministry. If I may...as many of you saw and experienced this blessed group in action these past few months with both Fr Joe and Deacon Mike's funeral receptions. St. Katherine Drexel and now Jake Wandro Parishioner Jake Wandro will be going on a FOCUS mission this year from St. Thomas Church to Benque, Belize to follow in the footsteps of St. Kathrine Drexel and the many other missionaries that have gone to Benque.
