2 News For Our Parishes Msgr. Matusak will offer a special blessing to St. Therese Parishioner, Mr. David M. Slusarick, this Sunday at the 11:30 a.m. Mass. Bishop Malesic accepted David into the Priestly Formation Program for the Diocese of Greensburg, and David will begin his studies in the Pre-Theology Program at St. Mark Seminary in Erie, Pennsylvania on August 22, Please pray for David during this time of discernment, and pray for an increase in our priestly vocations in the Diocese of Greensburg. W C Y G On Wednesday, July 25 th, our parishes hosted a Youth Group from SS. Isidore & Maria Parish, Gastonbury, Connecticut. They were in the Uniontown area on a Mission Trip. SS. Isidore & Maria Parish had about 50 youth and adults who were part of 350 individuals from across the country who made their home at Laurel Highlands High School. The young people and their chaperones from SS. Isidore & Maria Parish attended Mass at 4:30 p.m. presided by Fr. Anthony Klimko at St. John the Evangelist Church. After Mass, Msgr. Michael Matusak, the Uniontown Youth and Adults welcomed our visitors to St. Joseph Social Hall. We would like to thank the volunteers from our four parishes who prepared the meal and the youth who helped serve dinner to our friends from Connecticut. We were excited to have the opportunity to learn more about our new friends and share a little bit about our four parishes and our local area. P.S. The spaghetti was great! Faith Formation U A C C To parents of children who will be in First Grade this Fall 2018: Children who will be in First Grade this coming school year should attend Faith Formation or Catholic School or both as the first step in preparing for the Sacraments the following year (normally when they are in Second Grade). S P Confirmation 2018: The celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation will take place during the Advent Season of Our youth who will be in Eighth Grade (this coming school year) will be candidates for this Sacrament. Parents are reminded that these young people are to be involved in Faith Formation/Youth Ministry and/or Catholic School and immediate preparation for candidates and their families takes place in addition to Faith Formation. There will be food, refreshments, music, Chinese Auction, and activities for the children. Raffle Cash Prizes and a 50/50 will be drawn at 4:30 p.m. Raffle Tickets: A book of raffle tickets were mailed to all the families of the parish. The purpose of the cash raffle is to help defray expenses for the picnic. Cash prizes will be awarded: $500, $400, $300, $200, and $100. The drawing will be held at 4:30 p.m. You do not need to be present to win. Please return these tickets to us a.s.a.p. by way of the collection basket, mail them, or drop them off at the parish office during business hours. Volunteers: Help is needed to set-up on Saturday, August 11 th at 10:00 a.m. and additional help is needed for a few hours on Sunday, August 12 th. But which of these is the work of God? We seldom view our ordinary work as being the work of God. We may think that we have to be ministers or priests, missionaries or charity workers, engaged full-time in works formally identified as being God s work. But everything we do with a faithful heart and with love for others is God s work. We each have our own role to fill in the world, and many gifts are necessary. We cannot always see the direct connection of our daily work to the plan of God. But we trust and we believe that God leads us to do what is needed, where it is needed. What is God s work?
