Let us place no reliance on the influence of the wealth, connections, esteem, or encouragement from the world. - St. Joseph Marello Reflecting on God s Word The Lord s message, through Moses, was to take no revenge and cherish no grudge... love your neighbor as yourself (Leviticus 19:18). We might think, Great in theory, but not always realistic! Then Jesus in today s Gospel goes even further. Take a slap in the face and then turn the other cheek? Treat enemies the same as friends? Again, we re tempted to think that those are nice ideals, but not very practical in the real world. Paul echoes Jesus when he tells the Corinthians that what passes for human wisdom is absurdity to God. Divine wisdom casts sunshine on the good and the bad, showers rain on the honest and the dishonest without distinction. We must examine our wisdom and common sense to see how they compare to the wisdom of God, and make adjustments accordingly. Mass Intentions Sat. 3 Parish Announcements Sunday, February 19, Annual Catholic Appeal Commitment Weekend February 25th & 26th The Vocations Prayer Cross will be at the homes of In two weeks (next weekend), on Feb 25-26, we will once again be given the opportunity to be Christ to others through works of mercy. How do we help a family in need? How do we best help the man or woman along the roadside with a request for money? Do we pass them by? Do we feel guilty? Do we wonder how the money we give might be spent? As Catholics in the Diocese of Sacramento, we have a way to help those truly in need. By making a generous donation to the Annual Catholic Appeal, you can live the Gospel message and provide real assistance. St. Joseph Marello parish received 25% to serve our local needs, people who came to our doors looking for a bit of help or a hand up. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Fr. Philip Massetti who will enlighten us on the subject of Lenten Legends, Myths, and Truths. We encourage all women of the Parish to attend this special Mardi Gras-themed evening.
