3 Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 3 FROM THE DESK OF THE PASTOR Dear Friends in Christ, We have just completed the refreshing of four of the public restrooms on the campus of St. Michael s. The two bathrooms in the front of the church, the one in the cry room and the one in the south exit near the confessionals, got fresh paint and new flooring and lighting. The outside bathrooms, which are located across from the Cenacle, also got new paint and flooring, but they also needed the stalls refreshed, some of the toilets and urinals repaired, the countertops re-laminated and new mirrors. There are other bathrooms that we will get to as we are able. This is part of a plan to repair, maintain, and possibly improve everything on the St. Michael s property. It will be a long process but one that s part and parcel of caring for that which has been handed on to us. No doubt you ve noticed things needing attention and I assure that we will continue working until we have addressed them all. You cannot miss the work that is taking place in front of the Narthex, the main entrance of the church. Instead of simply re-landscaping, an expert member of the parish is guiding a project to beautify and make the entrance more obvious and welcoming. We hope to have this project complete by Holy Week. You will be happy to know that we are not simply on a spending spree. Everything costs money but these projects are costing a fraction of what they might have cost thanks to staff and parishioners who have pitched in with their support and skills. So between Bill Di Marino envisioning and directing the project at the entrance, our maintenance staff, and Knights of Columbus Dave Napoli, Ed Bruckner, Dick Shumway and Art Owens, we are making great strides. Thanks to all of you who continue to support the ministries of St. Michael the Archangel Parish through your financial generosity, without which we could not do any of this! The Diocese of St. Petersburg is seeking volunteers to be trained to lead Human Trafficking Awareness sessions, in English or Spanish, throughout our Diocese.
