3 Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 3 THE HOPE AND PROMISE OF REDEMPTION The prophet Jeremiah prophesies the end of the Babylonian exile. He describes how the weak and sorrowful people now return with joy. These are the scattered people of God: the blind and the lame, the mothers and pregnant women. They shall be led along an easy road so that no one will stumble. The Lord s kindness and mercy are on all these weak and broken people. Here and in Psalm 126 we find the most lovely poetic images of God s love and care for us. Those that sow in tears / shall reap rejoicing. Although they go forth weeping, / carrying the seed to be sown, / they shall come back rejoicing, / carrying their sheaves (Psalm 126:5 6). Although God had to punish Israel for their many sins, God never forgot them, scattered as they were, and brings them all back to the land of their ancestors, there to flourish and be joyful again. Shopping bags will be available after Mass today. Bags filled with food will be collected next Sunday, 11/04, or may be dropped in the Parish Office. Thank you for always generously supporting this endeavor. Thursday, November 1st, is All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses are at 8 AM, noon, and 7 PM. On Saturday, November 3rd, from 9pm to 5pm at the Clearwater Central Catholic High School campus Marauder Athletics has an opportunity to raise $8,000 with the Ford Test Drive but they need your help! Ford Motor Co. will make a $20 donation with each test drive taken. Drivers must be 18 years of age or older, with a valid driver s license and valid automobile insurance. Limit (1) donation per person and (1) donation per household. Please come to test drive in the morning and enjoy coffee & donuts or starting at 11am they re serving burgers and hot dogs! It won t cost you anything but your time. This is not a sales event, so there s no pressure to buy. 4 St. Michael the Archangel Church October 28, 2018 Page 4 OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY The Holy Father, Pope Francis, has asked that all the faithful pray a daily Rosary and the Prayer of St. Michael the Archangel during the Marian month of October for protection from the snares of the devil who seeks the ruin of the Church and the separation from God s love. Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. \ Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls. The Vial of Life is a program that allows individuals to have their complete medical information ready in their home for emergency personnel to reference during an emergency. This program is used to provide the patient s medical information when a patient is not able to speak or remember this information.
