Salesian Mission, inc., is part of the Salesian Society, which was founded in 1859 to care for poor and disadvantaged youth. Today more than 34,000 Salesian Fathers, Brothers, and Sisters work in more than 130 countries. They staff 225 orphanages, 216 hospitals and clinics, 850 nurseries, and 3,408 schools. These include 559 vocational and technical schools, 91 agricultural schools, 1,440 high schools, 23 colleges, and 1,295 elementary schools. Please give generously. Banns of Marriage Jeffrey Salzbrenner and Christine Pedroza July 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Saints and Sacraments in the Year of Faith October 11th, 2012 October 11th, 2013 Pope Benedict XVI declared that a "Year of Faith" will begin on October 11, 2012 and conclude on November 24, October 11, 2012, the first day of the Year of Faith, is the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council... (Vatican II) and also the twentieth anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. During the Year of Faith, Catholics are asked to study and reflect on the documents of Vatican II and the catechism so that they may deepen their knowledge of the faith. In conjunction with the Year of Faith, the Cathedral will host a lecture series called Saints and Sacraments in the Year of Faith led by Stephen Cordova. The free lectures will be on Sundays after the 11:00 a.m. Masses in Msgr. Bowe Room starting in October. More information in upcoming bulletins. Our Parish St. Vincent de Paul Society Welcomes new members. The SVdP conference at St. Mary s Cathedral meets regularly on the 2 nd Tuesday of the month in the Parish Hall and we gather to make sandwiches for the homeless shelter on the 4 th Tuesday of the month in the Main Kitchen.
