2 Prayer: A Haven of Safety St Francis s safe haven was prayer, not prayer of a few minutes or empty, presumptuous prayer, but prolonged prayer, full of devotion and the serenity of humility that was how, by God s grace, he overcame many fears and anxieties. (Thomas of Celano) And so we, as a parish, continue our journey of transition. Some may feel anxious within the midst of this process. But God is up to something!!! Trust that God is in our very midst and remains in control! Let us take time each day to pray Let us consider: How is God using our situation to lead us to something amazing? What do I need to realize and see? Are my words and attitude helping to unite and build up? How is God asking me to think and act differently? What will I do today to be an instrument of love and peace? Let us each pray with full devotion, humility and confidence in God s presence, then we too will overcome many fears and anxieties and we will see what others cannot! Sue Levesque Very Reverend Marc R. Gagne, V.F. has been appointed Administrator of Saints Mary and Joseph Parish, Salem, NH, effective June 27, Father Gagne is Pastor at St. Anne Parish in Hampstead, N.H and the Dean of the Rockingham Deanery. His role as Administrator is to oversee the operations, temporal and financial, until such time as a new pastor is named. He will also be assisting in coordinating coverage for funeral services. At this time, Bishop Libasci is scheduled to celebrate the weekend and weekday Masses for the month of July, so it s not likely we will be seeing Fr. Gagne on the weekends, as he will be at St Anne in Hampstead covering the Masses there. To assist the bishop in covering weekend Masses, Father Bartholomew Okonkwo has graciously agreed to cover the 4:00pm and 11:00am Masses at Mary Queen of Peace Church during the month of July. Four trees, Two locations and One Grateful Priest: To the parishioners of Saints Mary and Joseph, My thanks to you come in the guise of a few small trees: The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches. (Matt 13: 31) This is my prayer for you and the Parish. I love you all! Fr. Al Two dogwood trees, a pink and a white, to be planted at each location. Thank you Fr. Al! We will always remember and pray for you as we admire the trees as they change with the seasons!! Happy 4th of July! The office will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, to allow the staff to celebrate Independence Day with their families! Enjoy the holiday and be safe! Thank you for your cooperation! 2019 Mass Intention Book The office has suspended scheduling mass intentions for 2019 until closer to the new year. Thank you for your understanding & cooperation. Wednesday Evening 6:30 Mass Saints Mary & Joseph Parish will no longer be offering the Wednesday evening mass at 6:30pm. If you want to attend a mass on Wednesday, please check St. Patrick in Pelham for 8:00am mass.

3 Youth Happenings Elementary/Middle School Youth Ministry The CIA and The Jesus Kids Elementary Youth Groups are taking a break for the summer. Mark your calendars for their Kick-off: August Register NOW before you forget!!!! Registrations received after August 10 th will pay a late fee! Forms are at the church entrances and online at the parish website. The diocese is in the process of restoring the order of when the sacraments are received: Baptism, Confirmation then First Communion. Over the next 2 years we will be in transition Next year youth in grades 3 and 7-12 will be confirmed in the Spring (2019). Youth in grades 5 and up will be confirmed Spring 2020, as will the new 3 rd graders. LAST CHANCE TO SIGN-UP for Vacation Bible School! Friday evening, Saturday 9-3 and then Sunday morning: July 20-22!!! Parents will be treated to a special Saturday luncheon in King Nebuchadnezzar s Court!!! Forms are at the church entrances or you may register online at our parish website click on the Vacation Bible School link under Youth and Education. What s Happening at KidsChurch JESUS IS OUR SUPERHERO! Our Superhero of the Bible last Sunday: NEHEMIAH Superpower Focus: HOPE Nehemiah worked hard for God when he helped God's people rebuild the city wall. We can work hard for God, too. In everything we do, we can work as though we're working for God! When Jesus was on earth, he did hard and wonderful work for God. Jesus traveled all over the land to tell others about God. Jesus healed people, and he prayed for people. Jesus loved God, and he wanted to work hard for God. We can work hard for God just like Nehemiah and Jesus. It is our largest parish fundraiser since it began in The cost is $100 for the year. The membership is limited to 300 and we currently are at 151 members so there is room for YOU. There are three monthly $125 prizes. Then GRAND PRIZE drawings take place at a social gathering in June where ice cream, drinks and a real slice of the pie are served. Grand Prizes include ten prizes at $150 each, and one each of $250, $500 and $1,000. This gives every member 49 chances to win! The leadership in several of our Christian churches in Salem believe that our community, and our Nation is in deep need of God s Grace, His direction for our lives. In many ways, we have stopped seeking God s attention, God s strength, God s Will in dealing with the problems of infidelity, drug abuse, family crises, gender confusion, etc. To combat this crisis of faith, we want to storm Heaven with prayers begging God s help, pleading for His Will to be done for our Nation. Do you think you could commit to an hour of prayer-time each month for this cause? It doesn t have to be in a church; just in your favorite prayer spot in your home would be great. We will provide you a suggested outline for the hour of prayer complete with some passages from Scripture to lead you in your conversation with God. Shared Meal Ministry Our ministry is to help individuals and families in the Salem area who need temporary care and could benefit from a meal being brought to their home. Atonement Band CD Fundraiser Attention Saints Mary and Joseph parishioners: Atonement is doing a last minute fundraiser for Fr. Tom and the High School in Yap! The band made their own rendition of We are the World on a single CD. The message of this song is so powerful! Thank you for your Love Offering for the CD. May God bless all who hear this and support this cause. Father Tom is special and deserves this little extra for the poor people he will Shepherd. Contact Brenda Terry and the Atonement band at What is SIA? One CDC report is that two out of five men, and three out of five women-were sexually abused/molested. The S.I.A. (Survivors of Incest, Anonymous), is a 12-step spiritual program that provides support and healing for those who were sexually molested/abused as children regardless of who the perpetrator was.
