FINANCE COMMITTEE MEMBERS: We are currently seeking 2 additional members to serve on the Parish Finance Committee one from each of our worship sites.

4 FINANCE COMMITTEE MEMBERS: We are currently seeking 2 additional members to serve on the Parish Finance Committee one from each of our worship sites. The Finance Committee is responsible for assisting the Pastor in the good financial stewardship of the Parish. If you are interested in serving on this Committee, please submit a written letter to Fr. Michael, indicating why you are interested, and what qualities you believe you can bring to serve the Parish in this area. Our next scheduled meeting is May 29 th at 7pm. DONATION ENVELOPES: Those donation envelopes that have not been picked up have been stored in the Parish office, and may be picked up from Trudy during office hours, or by asking Fr. Society of St. Vincent de Paul St. Kevin s Conference Soup s On every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sr. Frederica Harvest House (just next door to the Thrift Store). The Thrift Store hours are Monday to Saturday 9:30-4:00. Thank you for your continuing support. A.S.A.P (Always Say A Prayer) Busy Bees After Mass on Wednesday Morning...and after coffee and chit chat...and the Busy Bees doing quilting, sewing, knitting and so many other things, we take a break for lunch. FIRST RECONCILIATION AND FIRST COMMUNION: Registration forms are now available for anyone who wishes to register their child for the preparation programs leading to the celebration of Reconciliation

These preparation programs are open to anyone who will be 8 years of age or older by the end of this year. Exceptions may be made for those who are younger. There is no maximum age all are welcome.

5 FIRST RECONCILIATION AND FIRST COMMUNION: Registration forms are now available for anyone who wishes to register their child for the preparation programs leading to the celebration of Reconciliation (Confession/Penance) this fall, and then the reception of Holy Eucharist the following spring. These preparation programs are open to anyone who will be 8 years of age or older by the end of this year. Exceptions may be made for those who are younger. There is no maximum age all are welcome. This program can be used also by those who wish their child to enter into the Catholic Church (ie. previously Baptized into another Christian Church denomination). Registration forms are available from Fr. Michael following any Mass at either one of our worship sites. Please ask him for one if you wish your child to be a part of this process, leading to the celebration of both of these Sacraments. St. Kevin's Site will be having a Valentine Breakfast on February 15th after the 9:30 am Mass. We will be having eggs, home fries, ham, pancakes, toast, coffee & juice. All Parishioners are welcome. Free will offering. Hope to see you there. Knights of Columbus Council 7368 Tuesday, February 17th, St. Kevin s Site, beginning at 5:00pm All Are Welcome! Freewill offering. Proceeds to St. Vincent de Paul. Hosted by St. Kevin s CWL HOLY HOUR AND BENEDICTION: Come and spend a quiet hour in the presence of the Lord, immediately following our Thursday morning Mass in Capreol this week. Exposition for just under an hour will be followed by Benediction.

ASH WEDNESDAY: For everyone s convenience, an additional Mass has been scheduled for Wednesday this week, in addition to our regularly scheduled celebration in Val Therese that morning.

6 ASH WEDNESDAY: For everyone s convenience, an additional Mass has been scheduled for Wednesday this week, in addition to our regularly scheduled celebration in Val Therese that morning. The second Mass will be celebrated at in the evening, beginning at 7pm. Additionally, a prayer service will be held at both St. Anne and Immaculate Conception Schools that morning. REGIONAL MEETING OF PRIESTS: The Sudbury Regional Priests will meet on Tuesday afternoon this week. Please keep them in your prayers as they discuss various issues pertaining to their ministry in the area. FRIDAY SOUP SUPPER: The CWL of Peace is hosting our 1 st Friday Soup Supper in the hall of our Church in Capreol this Friday, beginning at 5:30pm. Freewill offerings may be made, with all contributions being given to the Bread and Roses Food Bank in Capreol. This is an informal meal, so come any time between 5:30 and 6:30. We wrap up in time to pray the Stations of the Cross in the Church at 7pm. STATIONS OF THE CROSS: We will pray the Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent, immediately following our Soup Suppers. This coming Friday, the Stations will be prayed at in Capreol. Come and walk the Via Dolorosa with our Lord.

7 FAST AND ABSTINENCE: Lent, for those who choose, can be an excellent season of grace through which the soul can be united more fully to God. Traditionally, this is done through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Of course, we do those 3 things throughout the year (hopefully), but during Lent they take on a greater sense of urgency, since the Lord is knocking on the door and invites us to open to Him. So, for example, even though we abstain from meat on all the Fridays of the calendar year, we know in Canada that we are free to substitute that act of remembrance with another one perhaps a devotional act or a particular act of charity. On Ash Wednesday, however, (and on Good Friday too), the Church invites us to abstain from meat and not make an act of substitution. The reason for this is it unites all sincere Catholics around the world with a common act of remembrance (we remember what the Lord has done for us). Additional to this Abstinence, the Church invites us to fast on Ash Wednesday, as a powerful means by which we recognize that we do not live by bread alone (it s easy to forget that in our over consumptive society). So, according to your state in life, everyone is invited to make the decision to abstain from meat and to fast on Wednesday this week. The form of your fast is, of course, entirely between you and our Lord. VOLUNTEER TRAINING IN HOSPICE PALLIATIVE CARE Maison Vale Hospice offering their Hospice Palliative Care Training. This 30 hour course is mandatory for volunteers wishing to accompany people at the Hospice or in the community. Sessions start on April 21 st (in French) and on March 17 th (in English/space is limited). For more information please contact Sylvie Daviau at ext 231. Development and Peace Fr. Jesus Alberto Franco will be visiting our diocese on behalf of a Development & Peace partner in Columbia in early March. Watch the bulletin for further information in the days ahead." There will be a Moonlight ski at the Capreol Cross Country Ski Club on March 7th at 8:00 p.m. There will be entertainment and pizza.
