4 SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: This weekend, we welcome the following new Parishioners who have been joined to the Body of Christ through Baptism: Caleb Mahy, son of Amy & Kevin; Hudson Meunier, son of Tammy & Shannon; Tessa Hoag, daughter of Stephanie & Trevor. Congratulations to them and their families. FINANCE COMMITTEE NEWS: Last Friday night, the Parish Finance Committee met to welcome its newest members, and to select the contractor who will replace our furnace in Capreol at Our Lady of Peace Site. The furnace there is over 30 years old and, due to inefficiency, is quite expensive to run. Last year, our cost of heating OLP worship site was just under $15, We anticipate significant savings with a new, high efficiency boiler. The selection was made from the three bids received. Subsequently, the Diocese has approved this expenditure, and we are in the final stages of signing the contract for this work, which will be completed this summer. The cost of replacing our furnace will be $35,659.41, inclusive of HST. As a point of clarification, this money will be drawn from the savings account held in trust for Our Lady of Peace. That account currently contains $341, This is money that was put aside over the years for expenditures such as this. Although Our Lady of Peace Church now exists as a worship site for St. Kevin s Parish, this savings account may only be used for expenditures related to Our Lady of Peace site. The reason for this is that the money follows the people. Wherever the Parishioners in Capreol worship is where the money will be spent. To further clarify, the savings account held in trust for St. Kevin s Church currently contains $28, It was last drawn upon to pay for the new shingles on the roof. As always, if there are any questions related to the financials of your Parish, please ask a member of the Finance Committee. COMMUNITY GARDEN: A request was made by representatives from the Community Action Network in Capreol to use some of the property of Our Lady of Peace Church for a community garden. The property requested for use is that which is bordered by our parking lot on one side, and Capreol Rd, Morin St. and Hanna St. on the other 3 sides. Having consulted with the Diocese, Fr. Michael has approved this project, pending the signing of a contract which will protect the Church from liability and will not restrict our use of the land if we need to develop or use it for other purposes in the future. This, he believes, is a win-win arrangement which will benefit the community while using a piece of land which currently grows only grass. Society of St. Vincent de Paul St. Kevin's Conference Our Sudbury friends in need seemed to really appreciate our presence and our offerings at the Annual Meet & Greet. Thank you to all the Vincentians who participated and made it such a huge success, especially to Rod Harte who did such a fine job in organizing it. There will be a spring clean-up inside and outside of the Sr. Frederica Harvest House (next door to the Thrift Store) and a BBQ lunch on Saturday, June 13, from 10:00 to 2:00. If you can share a bit of time and elbow grease, please join us and bring whatever cleaning equipment or garden tools you may deem useful.

6 Knights of Columbus Council 7368 will be hosting a Parish Supper, Roast beef with all the trimmings Sunday June 14th, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. Cost $15.00 each or $25.00 per couple. Tickets will be available for sale June 6th & 7 th. BABY BOTTLE RETURN: Please remember to return your coin filled baby bottles to the Church (either site) on Father s Day (June 21 st ). Please do not return them on any other day. If you are unable to return them on Father s Day, please bring them to the Parish office the week or two before. COMMUNION FROM THE CUP: Due to a summer shortage (hopefully temporary) of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, we will be unable to offer Communion from the Cup at our Saturday night Masses. Until further notice, beginning in July, just two Extraordinary Ministers will be scheduled for the Saturday night Masses for the distribution of Holy Communion. HOLY HOUR: Our monthly Holy Hour follows the Friday morning Mass this week at our St. Kevin s Site. All are welcome to spend some quiet time in the presence of our Lord. VOCATIONS: Take; this is My Body. This is the Blood of the covenant which is poured out for you Mk 14.22;24 Are you recognizing Jesus in His Body and Blood? Are you discerning the call to priesthood? 7 Indigenous Celebrations Thank You On behalf of the Diocese of Sault Ste Marie and the ARISE/DEBOUT coordinator/coordinatrice, please accept our heartfelt thanks for all those who contributed in their own way to the success of the Indigenous Celebrations in Sudbury, North Bay and Sault Ste Marie. Each celebration was unique to its region. This would not have happened without the vision of Bishop Plouffe and the generosity of the Elders who sat on the Planning Committees of each region. The Holy Spirit was at work in our Diocese on these three occasions. For those who may have missed the events, be aware that the intention is to make this an annual celebration. Please check the Diocesan website to view pictures from the celebrations.
