COMMUNION MINISTER FORMATION Communion Minister Formation is a two-session program for those preparing to serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion in their parishes. Each two-hour session will include the Theology of the Eucharist, Liturgical Ministry and the Practical Aspects of the Role of the Communion Minister. 5 PRESBYTERAL ORDINATION As always, WE NEED YOU! No matter how you are a part of this St. Bernard Community, we depend upon each and every one of us to make the Picnic a success. We need everyone to step forward and help prepare, make donations, set-up, work, and clean-up to make this major fund-raiser happen. May has been designated to bring in GOODIE BAGS. : Gallon Zip Lock Bags filled with kid s toys and items geared for smaller children are needed for the Kiddie Booths. Bags should not be worth more than $2 or $3. The PRESBYTERAL ORDINATION of Rev. Mr. Robert Barnell, Rev. Mr. Brandon DeToma, Rev. Mr. David Farrell, Rev. Mr. Kien Nguyen and Rev. Mr. Minh Vu will be celebrated by Archbishop Joseph Kurtz on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Assumption. The people of the Archdiocese of Louisville are welcome and encouraged to attend this joyful celebration. 6 SAFE ENVIRONMENT WORKSHOP The Archdiocese of Louisville requires that all adults who work with children in our parish communities attend a Honor Thy Children Safe Environment training session and have a background check. Background check forms are in the Parish Office. The following workshop dates are on the calendar. You do not need an appointment, just come 15 minutes early and register. Please note: Children are not allowed to attend this training. By Susan Vogt, CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Did you know prevention and education to prevent child abuse is a priority in the Archdiocese of Louisville and in Catholic dioceses across the United States. Nationally, more than 2.4 million employees and volunteers have been trained to recognize the behavior of offenders and what to do to address child abuse, and in the Archdiocese of Louisville, more than 46,000 employees and volunteers have received this training. For more information about safe environment training, go to PRAYER SERVICE FOR VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING People Against Trafficking Humans (PATH) Coalition of Kentucky is hosting a prayer service remembering those who are victims/survivors of human trafficking on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. in Louisville, KY at Jefferson Square Park (6th and Jefferson Street). The public is welcome, and individuals are encouraged to bring a sign to increase awareness of human trafficking. PARENTING POINTERS Do you really listen to your child? Of course you do. Now be honest. Do you sometimes "listen with your answer running"?
