RECYCLING DROP-OFF The recycling dumpster is not available in the afternoons on days that school is in session. The parking lot is beginning to fill as early as 2:00 p.m. School dismissal begins at 2:45 and is usually completed by 3:15. Please plan any drop-off of recycling materials around these hours. 5 THIS COMING WEEK UNLOCKING THE MYSTERY OF THE BIBLE This coming Monday (October 8) the afternoon group will be looking at the periods of Conquest and Judges and Royal Kingdom (Taken from the Bible narrative books of Joshua, Judges, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1-2). In Conquest and Judges, God led Israel triumphantly in the Promised Land. In Canaan, God established Israel as a Royal Kingdom under David and promised him an eternal throne. The evening group will be looking at Egypt and Exodus and Desert Wanderings periods. (Bible narrative books of Exodus, Numbers). In Egypt and Exodus, God freed his people from slavery so they could worship him. God taught Israel to trust him through forty years of Desert Wanderings It s never too late to join us to get the full story of how these events are part of your story. 10 SAFE ENVIRONMENT WORKSHOP The Archdiocese of Louisville requires that all adults who work with children in our parish communities attend a Honor Thy Children Safe Environment training session and have a background check. Background check forms are in the Parish Office. The following workshop dates are on the calendar. You do not need an appointment, just come 15 minutes early and register. Please note: Children are not allowed to attend this training. Father Bob Ray will preside, and an opportunity will be provided for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. For further information, contact Paul Furmanek at DISASTER RELIEF Hurricane Florence, with its related rain and flooding, has caused massive destruction in North and South Carolina, and other weather events will likely cause destruction in the United States and elsewhere in the remaining months of the year. We can assist our brothers and sisters affected by disasters in 2018 through monetary donations that will be used to support the efforts of Catholic Charities and/or Catholic Relief Services as they provide emergency assistance to those in need. Funds also will be directed to pastoral and reconstruction needs of the Church should they arise. Checks should include the notation: 2018 Disasters and can be turned into the parish or sent to Catholic Charities of Louisville, 2911 S. 4th Street, Louisville, KY FAMILIES AND THE OPIOID CRISIS On Wednesday, October 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Catholic Charities and the Family Ministries Office of the Archdiocese of Louisville are presenting a panel discussion on the topic of opioid addiction. Professionals in the areas of recovery, clinical support, medicine, and spirituality and families who have experienced addiction will discuss this topic.
