Fatal Flaws, a documentary by Canadian filmmaker Kevin Dunn, will be shown. Mr. Dunn spent three years traveling throughout Europe and North America asking the question, Should we be giving doctors the right in law to end the life of others by euthanasia or assisted suicide? This film will help educate the public, many of whom support assisted suicide or are unsure where they stand. 3 From the Pastoral Team s desk... Living in the Word of God Archbishop Smith issued a Pastoral Letter on Thursday, September 14th, 2017, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Entitled Living in the Word of God, the letter invites us all to renew our focus on Scripture as we answer the call of the Holy Father Pope Francis to listen to the Word of God and then to put it to practice. Living in the Word - Throughout the history of the Church, the Christian response to God s love revealed in Christ has been threefold; worship, witness and service. In these three ways we put into practice the Word of God. Grateful Grannies Christmas Market Saturday, November 24, :00-3:00 pm Bailey Theatre Street, Camrose $5.00 for adults, Free for children and students Stewardship Reflection November 4th - Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time Today s First Reading from the First Book of Kings, as well as the Gospel passage from Mark, both center on the actions of two seemingly poor and helpless widows who show themselves to be faith-filled and generous stewards. In the eyes of the world, particularly in biblical times when there was no life insurance or Social Security, these widows were weak and dependent on others to take care of them. They each found themselves in desperate situations one in the midst of famine with a child for which to care, and the other clearly impoverished. Yet, each demonstrated strength and generosity that distinguished them from those around them. From where did this strength come? It came from knowing who they are, and Whose they are. These women must have known their security would not come from a good life insurance policy or connections to someone with a hidden storehouse of flour. No, their security came from knowing they were daughters of the Most High God and from putting their faith in Him. They had no need to panic in the midst of natural disaster or cling desperately to their menial resources. Their faith in God set them free to trust Him when all seemed hopeless. Their faith kept them detached from material possessions. Their faith allowed them to be brave and generous, to think of others despite their own trials. These women saw themselves as stewards, not owners, of the resources God gave them, regardless of how much or how little they had. Capacity for parking is 250 stalls. Some trees have been planted. The majority of trees, shrubs and perennials (which are many) will be planted in the spring due to weather conditions conducive to growth. Larger rocks have been placed in the landscape. The rocks to enhance the landscaping were a donation from a parishioner. Most of the lawn sodding is in place. The installation of roof edging in red granite from India is behind due to a delay in manufacturing of clips to hold the 1200 pound granite pieces. This project will be completed as soon as the clips arrive. The 19 stained glass windows in the spire of the church have been installed. The stained glass windows in the sanctuary will be installed mid-november. Installation of pews will be completed by November 23rd. All granite from India and the Island of Madagascar, and marble from Namibia (south western side of Africa) has been delivered. The lemurian granite from the Island of Madagascar will be installed shortly at the Baptismal Immersion Font. All equipment in the commercial kitchen has been installed and is made of stainless steel; it looks gorgeous! The table and chairs for the hall (paid for by the Knights of Columbus) will be delivered in November. Ten birdhouses have been placed on the property and many other nature related items will be placed on the property next spring including two purple martin houses. Father Joseph J will be giving a Spiritual W arfare Retreat on November 24th to 25th at Mount Carmel Spirituality Centre. See poster on bulletin board.
