With the funds that were raised, we were able to commission its creation and are currently preparing for its installation. The two most important aspects of our church building are the altar and the tabernacle. We go to church to be spiritually fed with the Body of Christ during the celebration of the Mass and to visit in prayer with God, who we know is truly present to us in the Blessed Sacrament reposed in the tabernacle of the church. I am touched by the generosity of so many people who witnessed to these truths of our faith by their desire to support the community in this praiseworthy endeavor. As I mentioned previously, the tabernacle takes a few months to fashion and create. We hope to have it installed by Easter of this year. We will be sure to let you know about the special Mass to bless the new tabernacle once we receive the anticipated date of its delivery. In the meantime, the tabernacle stand is being made by a local carpenter who has created many beautiful liturgical furnishings for the Archdiocese, including the newly-renovated St. Mary s Cathedral Basilica in Galveston. We are also relocating the tabernacle into the sanctuary behind the altar, so we will create a special niche for its placement in the coming months. With the spirit of the generous response to this endeavor in mind, I wanted as well to let you know that I am creating a special fund called The Beautification of Our Sanctuary Fund, which will be open to anyone who would like to make a donation to further augment the beauty of our worship space. As we continue to grow and progress in our faith as a community, our church, the liturgy and our worship experience should also grow in splendor and beauty. Throughout the year, you are welcome to make special contributions, such as a memorial gift, to this Fund. One of the things that I am currently researching is obtaining a nice set of Stations of the Cross for our church. There is also the possibility of acquiring a beautiful statue for the church to be placed where the tabernacle currently resides (once it has been relocated into the sanctuary). There are many areas of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community that we hope to continue to develop, some of which will be made apparent when the Master Plan for our parish is introduced. The Steering Committee is working diligently with the architects to complete this project, hopefully by March. I know that many people share in my desire to grow in the fullness of Christ s mission in all of its spiritual and charitable dimensions. Invoking upon you and your family the fullness of joy and peace in our Lord Jesus Christ, I remain Devotedly yours in Christ, Fr. Tom Lam 2
