G od will probably not reveal himself as he did in the past, on top of a mountain accompanied by fire, wind and storms. We wil most likely not see Jesus walking on water and perhaps may never feel the presence of God in a very powerful manner when we are in the middle of a family storm, facing job insecurity, having problems with young people, and fearing status issues or other winds threatening our material and spiritual stability. Some mes our storms are evident in the situa ons we are facing. At other mes, they are much more internal and perhaps we are the only ones who know our fears, shyness, insecuri es, that sense that something s ll needs to be done or simply the lack of self esteem. We all know our own fears, yet pretend to deny them in order to make ourselves appear stronger and in control of the situa on. And then there are mes, like with Peter, where the cause of our fear is not that we are really sinking, but that we are sinking because we are afraid, and do not have sufficient clarity to see God s hand giving us the strength we need. Therefore in those moments of brutal honesty and sincerity before God, we have to exclaim, Save me Lord, or I will perish! During these moments when we are struck with our own fears, whether they come from external circumstances or from the innermost corner of our heart, we must learn to listen in the breeze and in the gentle wind. It is here, where although it may not appear to be a spectacular manifesta on, like Elijah that we can listen to the voice of God, who sends us to fulfill our mission with strength and a profound trust in Him. How can we hear that voice and feel the presence? Perhaps it is in the simplest details of our life: the love from those who are near us; the kindness of the people we see every day; in the surprise we get when something we thought we could not do we carry it out with amazing ease. Or in the generous forgiveness that we receive a er feeling guilty about something we did. We find ourselves with the God, who speaks in the quiet especially when we are able to achieve an inner silence and listen. It is then that we see Jesus walk on the waters of our hearts, giving us strength so that we don t sink, despite all our storms and winds. 2

The job would be approximately 10 hours a week. Hours would generally be from 4:00-9:00 p.m. weeknights. The Catholic Church does not have an official dress code, yet stresses that modesty (and common sense) be used regarding clothing. From the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we know that purity requires modesty and guides how one looks at others and behaves towards them in conformity with the dignity of persons and their solidarity (CCC, ).
