3 From the Desk of Fr. Mike Dear Friends, Happy Easter! A special welcome to all those who made their sacraments at Easter Vigil this year. Their names will be printed in next week s bulletin. There were about 20. Praise God! We also welcome to St. Joe s this week many visitors from out of town. We are happy you are here. Today we celebrate that Jesus Christ lives! He is not dead, nor could he die. He lives. He lives in and through us, in and through his body the Church. For a long time and I continue this tradition baptisms began outside the building, because it is through baptism that we enter into the Church. But the Church is the body of Jesus so, in baptism, we enter into Jesus. We enter into the RISEN Jesus. PILGRIMAGE OF A LIFETIME TO LOURDES AND MEDJUGORJE JULY 16-26, 2018 Rev. 4 St. Joseph News St. Joseph 150th History 1901 Easter Plea Published in Local Press of The Democrat Newspaper The program of Easter services in 1901, as published in Shelbyville s Press of The Democrat newspaper, ended with a plea from Father Adelrich Kaeli. I hereby request every member of the congregation to make his or her Easter Duty. Let no one fail to come. Do not put it off to another time. Those who have neglected to perform this very important duty in past years, I beg very urgently to put it off no more. Come now, come, come without fail. This may be the last call that the Good Merciful Lord may extend to you. Come while it is yet time. The numerous opportunities to attend Mass included: Easter Sunday Morning, 7:30 a.m. by Rev. Father Titus with introductory sermon. Easter Sunday Late Mass (solemn), three Priests. Sermon by Rev. Father Titus on Importance of Salvation. Easter Sunday Evening at 7 o clock, Vespers, then sermon by Rev. Father Titus on Divine Institution of Confession, followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. 5 St. Joseph Open Enrollment Open Enrollment for school year has started for St. Joseph School for 2-year-old program, preschool program and our K-5 classes. Donations of cases of 12-ounce cans of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Mountain Dew; cases of 16-ounce (16.9) bottles of water; and of 20-ounce bottles of Gatorade can be put in the Narthex or dropped off at the Parish Office. Batesville and Oldenburg Pilgrimage On March 17th, Fr. Mike and Sr. Joan took a group of parishioners on a pilgrimage to the Holy Shrines in Batesville and Oldenburg.

7 Sr. Joan s Corner Dear Parishioners, A blessed Easter to you! Jesus is Risen! We will celebrate this for the next 50 days, but I hope that the Resurrection of Jesus will influence the rest of your life. It was very hard for Mary Magdalene and the apostles to believe that Jesus had really risen from the dead. Jesus had to appear to them many times and even eat with them to prove that he was alive. This week as you take time to pray, think of all the times in your life that Jesus in some form or other has appeared to you. Remember that Jesus appears in the most unexpected places and at times when you least expect. One just needs to be on the lookout.
