Palm Sunday this year will be on Sunday, March 25th and we anticipate that our children in worship will be invited to help usher in Holy Week by bringing forth Palm branches at the beginning of each worship service. This Lenten Season: The Armor of God Series with Lenten Suppers and Meditations On Palm Sunday we will also sponsor our annual Easter Egg Hunt for children of the church I hope everyone has enjoyed our exploration of the various pieces of what the Apostle Paul calls and community, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the the Armor of God described in Ephesians 6, as fellowship hall. Weather permitting, the hunt we continue to make our way through this year s for eggs will be on the north side grounds of the church s property, followed by storytelling, Lenten Season. crafts and snacks in the fellowship hall once If you are not aware of the present schedule, we d the egg hunt is completed. be delighted to welcome you to join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm for our light Len- Presently, we are needing donations of candies ten Suppers followed by a brief meditation in the for the plastic Easter Eggs if you would like to Fellowship Hall which is below the church s bring some packages of candy with you to sanctuary and easily accessible from the north parking lot of the church building. 2 Page 2 (continued from page 1) you are welcomed to help stuff the plastic Easter Eggs with the candies for the hunt. We meet in the Upper Room Sunday School class in the upper level of the Education Wing. This year s Maundy Thursday Worship Service will be on Thursday, March 29 th at 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. With a display of various types of bread, the service this year will celebrate the Bread of Life described first in the Old Testament and the Passover Event and then by our Lord Jesus throughout his ministry. This service will then conclude with everyone sharing in the cup and bread of the Lord s Supper. Easter Sunday Services We will once again conduct a brief Sunrise Worship Service on the parking lot of the main entrance of the sanctuary this year. With Sunrise anticipated at 7:03 a.m. this year, we ll begin this service at 6:45 a.m. and then at about 7:15 a.m., we will follow the service up with a hearty breakfast sponsored by the Eacret Family and the youth of our congregation in the fellowship hall. The Flowering of the Cross has quickly become a tradition in the 8:30 and 11:00 Worship Services as the children in worship are invited at the beginning of each service to place prepared followers on a cross while the congregation sings Easter hymns. It is a wonderful way for our children to transform the cross from a symbol of death to a symbol of life. Donations in memory and honor of loved ones and friends will begin through a Sunday bulletin flyer on Sunday, March 4 th through Palm Sunday, March 25 th. If you would like to help prepare the cut flowers for the crosses, we anticipate endeavoring in this task on Saturday, March 31 st likely at 10:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall. With the warmer weather and the budding of the Spring season to be upon us in the weeks to come, it is also wonderful for us to have the privilege to celebrate our risen Lord Jesus Christ as the Easter Season unfolds before us! Blessings to each of you as we continue through the remainder of this Lenten Season and as we eagerly anticipate the early arrival of Easter this year! Pastor Dennis The March Board Meeting will be on Sunday, March 4th in the Upper Room after the Noon potluck.

Also, the Gathering has decided to have a Mother s Day brunch on Saturday, May 5 th to honor the women of Barry Christian Church. Watch for updates and additional information for this event. 9 P a g e 9 THANK YOU We just wanted to express a big THANK YOU to all our friends at Barry who were able to join us in celebrating our 50 th Year anniversary. It was great seeing all of you. By your support we are once again reminded that we are truly blessed to be a part of the congregation at Barry. Thanks again Jerry and Peggy Treece Thank you for all your prayers and concerns for my sister, Mary Triplett during her long ordeal with cancer. She will have to have follow up treatments the rest of her life. Thank you and God Bless you! Phill & Arleta White Dear Friends, Thank you for your contribution to the 2018 AGO National Convention in KC. The steering committee is excited to showcase and share the wonderful music and all that the city offers. Your gift will help us to deliver a wonderful convention experience. We hope to have you join us in July. Mike Maideu (American Guild of Organist) Out with the Old and in with the Newer...Piano for the Fellowship Hall Lynn Bratney has a spinet piano she wishes to donate to the church for use in the fellowship hall. To make room for this newer piano, the old player piano (which no longer held its tune) has been removed. The cost for this removal was $200 and the cost to have the newer piano placed in the fellowship hall by a reliable piano moving company, whose employees can negotiate stairs is: $220. With this endeavor at hand, we therefore have a cost to the church of $420 of which $150 has been gratefully received. Donations to help us defer the additional expense of $270 are most appreciated in order to keep this expense out of the congregation s general fund which has been tight through these winter months. If you would like to make a contribution, please write a check with the memo: piano moving expense and this will be a great benefit as we welcome the use of a piano. Is your giving to the support of Barry Christian Church up to date? The month of February had 4 Sundays.
