Theology of the Body The Original Innocence of Man and Woman Genesis 2:25, manifests in a direct way the mystery of innocence which the original man and woman both bore, each in himself or herself. The body itself is, in a way, an eyewitness of this characteristic. Significantly, the affirmation contained in Genesis 2:25 about nakedness mutually free from shame is a statement unique in its kind in the whole Bible. It will never be repeated. On the contrary, we can quote many texts in which nakedness will be connected with shame or, in an even stronger sense, with ignominy. In this wide context the reasons are all the more visible for discovering in Genesis 2:25 a particular trace of the mystery of original innocence and a particular factor of its radiation in the human subject. This innocence belongs to the dimension of grace contained in the mystery of creation, that is, to that mysterious gift made to the inner man, to the human heart. It enables both of them, man and woman, to exist from the beginning in the mutual relationship of the disinterested gift of oneself. This contains the revelation, and at the same time, the discovery of the nuptial meaning of the body in its masculinity and femininity. It can be understood why we speak in this case, of revelation and at the same time of discovery. From the point of view of our analysis, it is essential that the discovery of the nuptial meaning of the body, which we read in testimony of Genesis, takes place through original innocence. In fact, this discovery reveals and highlights the latter. Original innocence belongs to the mystery of man s beginning, from which historical man was then separated by committing original sin. This does not mean, however, that he is not able to approach that mystery by means of his theological knowledge. Parishioners Installed as Acolyte Please congratulate parishioners Buddy Doyle, Jeff Lanz and Patrick Meredith as they are installed as Acolyte by Archbishop Kurtz during the 11 a.m. Mass at Saint Christopher on Sunday, November 4. The three will join a Saint Christopher parishioner and accept the role of "Steward of the Sacred". The acolyte is instituted for service at the altar and to assist the priest and deacon and principally his role consists of preparing the altar and Sacred Vessels. The role differs from a server as it indicates that the individual has been found by the bishop to be qualified to serve reverently in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The Archdiocese of Louisville has determined there to be a need for duly instituted acolytes who can assist with liturgical functions reserved to priests, deacons, and acolytes, namely, that of purifying Sacred Vessels.

Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time First Reading: Deuteronomy 6:2-6 Second Reading: Hebrews 7:23-28 Gospel: Mark 12:28b-34 God s command for us is to love; first to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and then to love our neighbors as ourselves. Jesus calls these the two greatest commandments. These are not easy commands. They require that we put God and others above our own wants and desires. Forever Young Club November 13th, 2018 The November meeting will be held in the Culinary Arts Dept. of E-Town Community College. An oldfashioned turkey dinner will be served at 6:00 PM. Parking will be a problem so try to arrive around 5:30 PM. There is parking in the back but a longer walk is possible. If you can carpool with others, it will minimize the parking situation. Reservations must be made by November 6th by calling Julia, Jim, or Charles. We also need to know your choice of white meat, dark meat, or both.
