After all family and loved ones have been well taken care of, name the parish as recipient of the residuary estate (the amount that is left). To learn more, contact Deacon Michael Shumway in the Archdiocese of Louisville s Office of Mission Advancement at or by mshumway@archlou.org. Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-the desires of the flesh and desires of the eyes and pride in possessions-is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15-17 REFLECTION We now live in a world that possesses, according to many in high places that should know better, the new enlightenment. They teach we should abide in the worldly desires of the flesh, and desires of the eyes and pride of possessions. We must avoid their worldly quagmire of moral relativism. St. John writes, The world is passing away along with its desires. We can attest to the truth written by that great and holy Apostle, because there are those that have eyes that see the truth in the Traditional Faith and Moral teachings of the Church, and hearts that abide with love for God. The Respect Life Committee invites you to publicly witness to the truth. Participate with us in the following programs that will attest to the truth; that we profoundly love our neighbors, the so called least among us - pre-born children, terminally ill, & special needs brothers & sisters. National Life Chain Sunday, Oct 7 2:30-3:30 pm. This event will be silent and peaceful. Saint James link in the chain will be on the sidewalk in front of Longhorn Steak House 31W North. Other Life Chains will be held at the sidewalk in front of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, & the sidewalk in front of The Cecilian Bank 31W North. Roe v. Wade Ad Collection Weekends Sundays Oct 7 & 14 Respect Life Committee will collect names for the pro-life newspaper ad that will sadly observe the infamous Supreme Courts decision Roe v. Wade Jan 23, 1973, on the weekends of Sunday Oct 7 and 14. Donations of $5 per family will be accepted. Novena Prayer -May a change in the U. S. Supreme Court move our nation closer to the day when every human being is protected in law and welcomed in life. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Please pray Friday Sept 28. This is what owns me. AROUND & ABOUT Day of Prayer and Fasting Archbishop Kurtz invites Catholics throughout the Archdiocese to join him in a Day of Prayer and Fasting on Friday, October 5.
