2 NINETEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SAINT JAMES CATHOLIC SCHOOL Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and is unchangeable. Please visit us at 401 Robinbrooke Blvd., Elizabethtown, KY or online at Saint James Catholic School welcomed back students for the first day of school Thursday! Students must be enrolled at the school to participate. If you have any questions about the program or would like to sign up, please contact Coach Casey Overstreet at at your earliest convenience. Thank you! February 2, 6:00 PM What did Roe v. Wade do? It said the right of privacy (not mentioned in the text of the Constitution) is broad enough to encompass a woman s decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy. The Justices ruled that a state may not restrict an abortion at all in the first three months of pregnancy (first trimester). It may establish guidelines only to protect the mother s health during the next three months (second trimester). After viability, when the unborn child could survive if delivered (which the Court placed at 24 to 28 weeks of gestation), the state may prohibit abortion unless it is deemed necessary to preserve the mothers life or health. Novena Prayer. May a change in the U.S. Supreme Court move our nation closer to the day when every human being is protected in law and welcomed in life. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be. (USCCB Pro-Life Committee) Ed Cecil, Respect Life Committee Safe Environment Training The Archdiocese of Louisville is committed to ensuring that children and youth who worship, study or participate in churchsponsored activities can do so in the safest and most secure setting possible. 6 Eucharistic Adoration Purposes of Eucharistic Adoration at Saint James Catholic Church: For an Increase in religious vocations to the priesthood and sisterhood. For an end to all abortions. For our own sanctification. Statistics show that dioceses and individual parishes that have daily, weekly, or monthly Hours of Eucharistic Adoration (That is praying before Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist) have had an increase in vocations to the religious life. The more hours of weekly Adoration, the more vocation produced. Saint James Catholic Church now has 25 hours per week of Eucharistic Adoration. We started this Adoration about 10 years ago and we have had a number of religious vocation in our parish since that time. More vocations will come. We need every soul in the parish to help us. Thus far there are 132 parishioners signed up for hourly Eucharistic visits per week. Do yourself and our parish a favor and sign up for one hourly visit per week. It is very cheap! It won t wont cost you a penny and you ll get a free parking spot just outside the church s doors! The Times for exposition of the Blessed Sacrament are: Monday after Mass from 7:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Tuesday after Mass 8:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after Mass 8:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. Thursday after Mass 8:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. Friday after Mass 8:30 a.m. 5:30 p.m. Saturday from 8:00 a.m. 9:00 a.m. Wednesdays will be at 9:15 a.m. when school is in session.
