3 Evensong Services A sung service of evening prayer, psalms, and canticles, scripture readings. An ancient part of the Anglican tradition, ever renewing the soul. Services are at 5:30 pm on November 1 and January 24. Taizé Services Taizé is an ecumenical sung and silent participatory prayer service designed to achieve a contemplative state through music, song and silence. 5 Young Adults & Families 9:15 10:15 am Location: Meeting Room or Ormond Center Leader: The Rev. Adam Pierce Sunday morning between services The Rev. Adam Pierce will hold a space for folks in their 20's to 40's to get to know one another over coffee and scripture. Together we will reflect on that Sunday's lectionary readings as we discuss how these readings may intersect with our daily lives. Post-Worship Dialogue with Clergy after 10:30 service Location: Portable room in Parish Hall Leaders: The Rev. Dena Whalen The Rev. Adam Pierce Have questions about the sermon? An aha about the liturgy or the music? Meet with one of our clergy after the 10:30 service for discussion. 6 Children & Youth Nursery Location: Children s Wing 9:15 through 10:30 service The nursery is available for infants and toddlers. Children 2 nd grade and up are encouraged to attend the 10:30 service with their families, go to Children s Chapel during the sermon, and return at The Peace for Holy Communion. Children of the Good Shepherd Location: Children s Wing (up the red stairs) 9:30 10:15 am begins September 16 Coordinator: Twink Barr Our Montessori-based program probides a hands-on approach to practices for a Jesus-centered life through stories, activities, building community, and prayer. Atrium 1 is for younger children ages 3 years old through 1 st grade. Atrium 2 is for older children 2 nd grade 11 years old. Youth Leaders: Ashley Eason, Katie Dietzen, Matt Langley, Paula Waterfield 5:30 6:30 pm Location: Parish Hall (future move to Ormond Center) A new youth program begins this fall for middle and high schoolers. This group will begin by meeting on Sundays from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. On Sunday mornings youth are encouraged to serve as assistant teachers in the Children of the Good Shepherd program and serve as acolytes at the 10:30 service. 6
7 Groups and Events During the Week Women at the Well Location: Library 3 rd Monday of every month, 10:00 am - Noon Leader: Ellen Weig This reading group focuses on coming together as women in community and strengthening our personal sense of spirituality and faith. Tuesday Morning Book Group Location : Library 7:30 am 8:30 am Leader: The Rev. Dena Whalen After a period of quiet prayer to start the day, this group discusses various books. This year we will offer group spiritual direction with the Rev. Jim Papile on the first Tuesday of each month. Tuesday Bible Study on Ephesians Location: Deacon s study/conference Room Meeting day and time to be announced Leader: The Rev. Deacon Kay Swindell Tuesday Discipleship Group Location: The Pierces home 7:30 pm 9:30 pm Leaders: The Rev. Adam & Laurie Pierce A bible study of sorts for people 20 s to 40 s for fellowship and an opportunity to deepen our relationships with one another as we reflect on the ways scripture intersects with our lives. 7
8 Gentlemen of Humble Prayer Friday Mornings, 7:45 9:00 a.m. Fellowship and prayer, coffee and pastry for men of all ages. Friday Morning FaithShare Location: Library Fridays - 10:00 am to 11:30 am Leader: The Rev. Dena Whalen This group prays together, laughs together, and chooses topics which have meaning in our spiritual growth. All are welcome! Saturday Morning Mini- Retreats Location: Library 9:00 am to 11:00 am Leader: The Rev. Mary McKnight There will be three Mini-Retreats this year: November 3, January 26 and February 23 Both men and women are cordially invited to come together for times of refreshment and prayer, with optional sharing. We will experience both ancient and contemporary ways of praying. It is not necessary to come to all three sessions. Please Mary McKnight at marym685@mac.com by October 28 to sign up for the November 3 Mini-Retreat. 8

Dena Whalen December 5 The Camino experience: God s presence along the way. December 12 The inner journey, including the Dark Night of the Soul, as a way of searching for and meeting God. 10 Special Events this Fall Blessing of the Backpacks Sunday, September 16, during the 10:30 service Children, teens, and adults are invited to bring their backpacks and briefcases for a blessing of their intentions for school and work. Celebrate St. Paul s! Sunday, September 30 Ministry Celebration Sunday morning in the Parish Hall all of St. Paul s ministries will be on display. Come visit the leaders, learn about the ministries, and get involved! Celebrate St. Paul s - Potluck Dinner 6:00 p.m. Our Ministry Festival, begun Sunday morning, continues with an old-fashioned potluck dinner. We will welcome new members and recent newcomers. Kudos will be given to the many ministries, well-known and unseen, that go on in our parish. St. Francis Blessing of the Animals Sunday, October 7, 2:00 p.m. Bring your furry friends and beloved pets of any species to our annual Blessing of the Animals. A short liturgy and the blessing of each animal and refreshments for the humans. Donations of blankets and towels, dog and cat food, will be collected to benefit local animal rescue groups. 10
11 RISE Against Hunger Saturday, October 13, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Coordinator: Don Brainard Location: Parish Hall Join in the fast-paced fun of packing 10,000+ meals that are distributed to many places around the world. Trunk or Treat Saturday, October 27, 3:00 5:00 pm A safe, fun Halloween event in St. Paul s parking lot. Children go from car trunk to car trunk rather than door to door to trick-or-treat. Activity tables will include a hair spray/ face painting station, cupcake walk, minipumpkin decorating, and contest for best costume and best trunk decorations. Advent Wreath Making Sunday, December 2, Sunday morning Materials for making Advent wreaths will be available in the Parish Hall to make or take home SPECtacular Events SPECtacular is for adults with young children and single young adults. Outings might include potlucks at the park or an evening out on the town; anything to get us together. Anyone can be a host and all are welcome! Look for announcements in e-news and bulletins. 11
