2 THE PROMISE OF JUSTICE We are in fairly good company when we ask God for justice. Often enough we hear and agree with the lament of the people of Israel asking God why the wicked prosper. However, when we call out for justice, we usually want someone to get his or her comeuppance. God s justice is something other than this, of course. God s justice comprises a wonderful rightness between God and humankind. Today, Jeremiah looks ahead to a time when a just one will sprout from the shorn-off stump of Jesse of the house and family of David. Life was not fair in Jeremiah s time. Israel s kings held the promise of God s fidelity, but it was difficult to see how God s promise could be realized through them. Nevertheless, Jeremiah lifts his voice and announces that the Promised One will come. Luke s Gospel echoes that announcement, and Paul is filled with sturdy encouragement. Catholic Daughters Bake Sale The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Divine will be having their annual Fudge/ Candy Fundraiser after all masses the weekend of December 8 th and 9 th. All proceeds will help Catholic Daughters with all of their Charitable work. Help them continue their good works in our community! Santa Claus Home Visits The Knights of Columbus Most Blessed Sacrament Council is sponsoring its annual Santa Claus Home Visit fundraiser. Santa Claus will be available to visit with your child or children in your home for approximately 10 minutes between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on December 7th - 16th. There is a $30 donation for the visits. The funds raised from this activity will be used to support the charitable work of the MBS KC s within our parish community. Performing in concert at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Michael McDowell will put on a Christmas Spectacular sure to capture the joy of the Christmas Season in a solo performance while unveiling the Church fully adorned for Christmas. All are invited to join us on Sunday, December 16th Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Concert begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 (premium seating if available) and $15 (regular admission). 3 Families In Need at Christmas 2019 Calendars We will be handing out new year calendars after all masses this weekend, December 1-2, MBS parishioners are invited to experience a personal role with a family in need by giving you an opportunity to choose a family already screened by Catholic Charities to help at Christmas. Amy Varnado, our parish representative, will be here this weekend, Nov.24/25 with the list of families. Please drop by the table in the narthex of the church for a family name with information. Call Amy at or if you have any questions. Please Note... We will collect the gifts at the parish office on Monday, December 3rd through Tuesday, December 11th from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. This Sunday during the 9:45 a.m. Mass, the RCIA class will celebrate the Rite of Acceptance of Catechumens with our M.B.S. parish family. These are adults and youth who seek to be initiated into the Catholic Church and are journeying in preparation for the Easter Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Some are unbaptized and some are baptized in other denominations. We welcome them, pray for them, and support them as we mark this particular stage in their journey. Our gratitude to them and those who catechize, sponsor, and minister to the RCIA. Celebrate with the High School Youth Group MBS Parish Thanksgiving Meal A Great Big Thank You!
