It has been a very busy term and I am sure everyone will be appreciative of the time ahead for rest, relaxation and recuperation! The next few days are very significant in our celebration of our faith. The following is an Easter reflection, to remind us of the sacred time coming up. An Easter Prayer To say, I believe in Jesus Christ who rose from the dead, is to say I believe that the Resurrection goes on and on and on forever. Every time Jesus rises in our own hearts in new ways, the Resurrection happens again. Every time we see Jesus where we did not recognise him before in the faces of the poor, in the love of the unloved, in the revelatory moments of life, Jesus arises anew. The real proof of the Resurrection lies not in the transformation of Jesus alone, but in the transformation awaiting us who accept it. To say, I believe in Jesus Christ who rose from the dead, is to say something about myself at the same time. It says that I myself am ready to be transformed. Once the Christ-life rises in me, I rise to new life as well. Christ is risen, we are risen, we sing at Easter. But it has a great deal more to do with life than with death. If I know that Jesus has been transformed, then I am transformed myself, and as a result, everything around me. Until we find ourselves with new hearts, more penetrating insights, fewer compulsions, less need for the transient, greater awareness of the spiritual pulse of life, resurrection has not really happened for us. Jesus has risen but we have not. Resurrection is change at the root of the soul. It marks a whole new way of being in life. (Joan Chittister) Jesus, help me to understand that in every life, something good fails, something great ends, something righteous is taken unjustly away, something looms like an abandonment by God. Give me the wisdom to know that You rose from the dead as a sign to us that every one of these little deaths is life becoming new all over again. Be with me in living Your Resurrection over and over again. Amen. Have a holy, happy and safe Easter. Discuss Confirmation as a Sacrament of Initiation and what this means for us as Catholics Share practical insights and experiences with other parents Focus on family ideas for the Sacrament of Confirmation Discuss how do we foster these beliefs for the benefit of our own children. COMMITMENT MASS Date: Saturday 21st or Sunday 22 nd May 2018 Time: Saturday 6pm or Sunday 8:30am During mass Sacramental candidates and their parents will be welcomed and blessed Parents will present signed Certificate of Commitment to Celebrating Priest Children will hand Pray For Me card to the Priest. Parishioners will be invited to take a prayer card home and begin praying for their chosen candidate and family.

3 Jelly Bean Prayer Red is for the blood He gave, Green is for the new life He made. Yellow is for the Son of God come to Earth, Orange is for love beyond all worth. Black is for the sins we made, White is for the grace He gave. Purple is for His hour of sorrow, Pink is for our new tomorrow. Official Blessing of Assumption Place Thank you to the students of the Junior and Senior choir who sang so beautifully at the morning tea after the official blessing of Assumption Place. Prep Liturgy Last week our Prep classes joined together for a beautiful liturgy following in the footsteps of Jesus. It was wonderful to hear the message of how we can be more like Jesus and to be joined by so many parents and extended family members.

4 Resurrection Liturgy As it is not liturgically correct to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus before Easter we will celebrate this special day in our Church year on our first day back next term, Tuesday, 17 th April. There will be a liturgy at 2pm in the MacKillop Centre. Caritas Australia Project Compassion Thank you for the support that has been given to Project Compassion through the mission boxes. Up until printing this morning our school had raised a mighty effort of $610. Also thank you for the buying of raffle tickets to support the schools that Mrs Gillam will visit on her trip to the Philippines this holidays. The raffle will be drawn today after the newsletter has been finalised but so far we have raised $500. We look forward to hearing about Mrs Gillam s experiences in the Philippines. Thank you for your generosity. Administration Headlice This term, reports of headlice have been fairly consistent across most year levels. To help alleviate this problem in the future, we ask that during the school holidays parents wash all their children s personal belongings, including hats and treat their hair if necessary. It is only when everyone is vigilant that this problem can be beaten. We thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Winter Uniform The winter uniform will come into effect from Monday, May 7. The most significant change is for the girls (Years 1-6) with the addition of the winter tunic, yellow shirt, leggings/stockings/black socks. It is highly recommended that during the upcoming holidays, the winter uniform, including tracksuits, v-neck fleecy jumpers can be worn by Prep children and as an additional piece of warm clothing under the tracksuit jacket on colder days. PLEASE ENSURE ALL PIECES OF CLOTHING ARE CLEARLY NAMED. This is also a timely reminder of the importance of our students wearing the correct uniform at the appropriate times. The upper students were reminded yesterday of their responsibility in wearing the correct uniform on the right day and wearing the correct shoes as per the uniform provided in the parent handbook. At times it can be difficult to provide for students all of the requirements of the uniform. Our uniform has not had a significant change for some time now and the expectation is (and has always been) if a child cannot wear the correct uniform on the given day, parents/caregivers write a note to the child s teacher explaining the reason. Each child has a school diary and our Prep children have a KIT book. Parents/caregivers are asked to support us in showing that our students are proud of being St Mary s students. Wearing the appropriate uniform and wearing it well, demonstrates this to the wider community. ANZAC Day St Mary s students will once again join the Warwick community in the ANZAC march on Wednesday 25 th April. Information regarding our participation will be sent home on our return to school next term. Children will be required to wear the formal school uniform (Prep sports uniform; Years 1-6 girls green striped dress; Years 1-6 boys green shirt, navy shorts). Hats and correct shoes must be worn as well.

Thank you to Mrs Hilton and all of our staff who managed the cross country this year. The children have been engaged in regular training since the beginning of the school year and this contributed to their active participation and great times.
