Eucharistic Adoration: Eucharistic Adoration on the First Friday of the month, beginning with the 8:30 am Mass and concluding with a Divine Mercy Holy Hour and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at 3:00 pm. Novena Services: Miraculous Medal Novena and the Saint Teresa Novena, with veneration of the relic of Saint Teresa, every Monday following the 8:30 am Mass. Baptisms: Every Sunday of the month 1:30 pm following the 12:30 pm Mass. Parents are asked to contact the rectory and schedule an appointment with one of the parish priests to make arrangements for the celebration of the Sacrament and to register for the Baptism preparation class. Marriages: Please contact the rectory at least one year in advance of the wedding to schedule an appointment with one of the parish priests. Participation in the Marriage Preparation Program offered by the Archdiocese of New York, along with Natural Family Planning classes, is required. To register for Marriage Preparation sessions, contact the Family Life / Respect Life website at Parish Membership: New parishioners are warmly welcomed. Those already enrolled in the school, CCD Program, sports or other parish activities are not automatically registered in our parish. Please stop by the parish office or call for a membership form. It is important that all parishioners are registered. And here are some items that may be of interest to you: * There will be a special Mass - "Remembering Father Benedict Groeschel" - Monday July 23 at 7:30pm, in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 7396 Amboy Road, Tottenville. Father Benedict was a great priest and counselor whose life was dedicated to helping people with mental health issues, and people living in poverty. This Mass is sponsored by the Catholic Mental Health Professionals of Staten Island. Contact them at * Father James Sheehan, a priest of our Archdiocese and a college campus minister, has written a touching and helpful book on his experience with his father, who had Alzheimer's. This disease affects more than twenty million people worldwide. His personal story - "The Father Who Did Not Know My Name" - can be ordered from Father Sheehan for $12.95 c/o Coy Publishing, PO Box 1605, Yonkers NY * The New York State Catholic Conference sent an end-of-the-legislative-session update on June 27, informing us of some victories in the form of increased support from state government for Catholic Schools. Church representatives in Albany must continually speak up for our rights as members of the community and fight for a fair share of tax-generated money for the children educated in Catholic schools. They gave special thanks to our Assembly Member Michael Cusick for his longstanding and effective support for Catholic schools. Among the programs that received new or additional funding: classroom technology projects, health, safety and security needs, STEM instruction, and a three percent increase in funding to reimburse non-public schools for the expenses of state-imposed mandates. Our parish, under the leadership of then-father John O'Hara, was a charter member. Our parishioner Mona Zaloom is the inspirational leader who keeps us focused on annual events like the Passover Seder, Thanksgiving prayer services, and an annual Sunday-Afternoon-in-August Walk through a neighborhood to explore religious history and buildings on Staten Island and meet people from other congregations. So I invite you to make a note of this date - Sunday, August 26. Everyone is invited to meet at 2pm at the Woodrow United Methodist Church, 1075 Woodrow Road in Rossville. (If you don't know where Rossville is, this will give you a chance to explore.) From that church we will walk together to the Sandy Ground Historical Society at 1536 Woodrow Road, and hear the story of this extraordinary place. Then we finish at the Rossville AME Zion Church at 584 Bloomingdale Road. You can come for all or part of this informative and interesting day. FYI - According to the Advance, Rossville was named in the 1830s after Colonel William Ross, who built a replica of Windsor Castle there. Captain John Jackson's Sandy Ground settlement in Rossville was the first recorded purchase of land by a black man in Richmond County. Sandy Ground became a haven from persecution in an era when such places were few and far between, even in the abolitionist North. For example, a four year old girl was learning to say the Our Father. Each night, as parents should, adults and child recited both formal and personal prayers at bedtime. One night little Caitlin was ready to go solo. Her parents listened with pride as she carefully recited each part of the Our Father. She was doing great, right up to the end, when she updated the Lord s Prayer in a wonderful way: Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from . Amen. Msgr. William Belford

Over the last ten weeks I have encountered so many great people from this parish and Staten Island. I have seen and learned the life of a parish, from Mass, Weddings, Funerals, to visiting the school and all the other groups that are involved here at Saint Teresa s. I have also been ministering and bringing Holy Communion to the sick at Staten Island Hospital as well. As I reflect on my time here I have realized what an honor it is to serve the people of God. I am very thankful for Monsignors Belford s kindness and leadership he has shown during my time here. As well as the other priest Fr. Jean- Marie and Fr. John.
