INSTRUCTIONS FOR EMERGENCY If you or someone you know is in critical condition or near death call weekdays from 8:00am to 5:00pm. After hours and on weekends call Please do not use this service for any other reason. INFANT BAPTISM Parents requesting baptism for their children under 7 years old must attend a mandatory preparation class offered every other month. Please call the Parish Office in advance for scheduling or other information. Infant baptisms are the last Sunday of each month. MARRIAGES/MARRIAGE PREPARATION Couples seeking the sacrament of marriage must be registered parishioners who are actively participating in the life of St. George Roman Catholic Parish. Notification of intent to marry must be provided six months in advance. For more information on the marriage preparation process, please call the Parish Office. BEARING THE RIGHT KIND OF FRUIT Today s readings focus our attention on vineyards. Isaiah s song concerning his friend s vineyard begins with inspiring and poetic images of an idyllic vineyard where the choicest harvest is expected. Instead, the vineyard yields wild grapes, which causes the owner to abandon it. The psalmist cries out to God, asking that God once again take care of the vineyard, which is the house of Israel. The parable told in today s Gospel offers a stern warning that those who commit treachery in the hopes of attaining personal wealth will be put... to a wretched death (Matthew 21:41). Jesus warns his listeners not to act like the murderous tenants in the vineyard. Instead he exhorts them to produce the kind of fruit that will lead them to the kingdom of God. 5 Service is a vital aspect of the EDGE and Life Teen programs at St. George. Giving back to the community and becoming aware of all the benefits of service for those who receive and those who serve. To understand our duty as Catholics and Christians And the King will say to them in reply, Amen, I say to you, whatever you have done for one of these least brothers of Mine, you have done for me. Matthew 25:40 On Saturday, October 21st, Students from St. George EDGE and Life Teen programs will have the opportunity to serve at United Food Bank from 8:00-11:00 a.m. Students will meet in the St. George parking lot at 7:30 a.m. and be transported to United Food Bank. We will be returning at approximately 11:30 a.m. All students must provide a United Food Bank Waiver and Release form along with a Diocese of Tucson Waiver. Stan celebrates a Mass in Polish on the 1st Saturday of every month at 6:00pm. NEW BISHOP OF TUCSON NAMED The Vatican announced on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 that Bishop Edward Weisenburger will be transferred from Salina, Kansas to become the new Bishop of Tucson. He will be replacing Bishop Gerald Kicanas. Bishop Weisenburger is 56 and has been serving in Salina, Kansas since May He will be installed November 29, CASINO TRIPS ARE BACK IT S FALL AND CASINO TRIPS ARE BACK!
