INSTRUCTIONS FOR EMERGENCY If you or someone you know is in critical condition or near death call weekdays from 8:00am to 5:00pm. After hours and on weekends call Please do not use this service for any other reason. INFANT BAPTISM Parents requesting baptism for their children under 7 years old must attend a mandatory preparation class offered every other month. Please call the Parish Office in advance for scheduling or other information. Infant baptisms are the last Sunday of each month. MARRIAGES/MARRIAGE PREPARATION Couples seeking the sacrament of marriage must be registered parishioners who are actively participating in the life of St. George Roman Catholic Parish. 3 2017 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL Our goal this year is $173,000. Each year at this time, we are encouraged to consider the needs of our Church beyond our parish boundaries - to consider the needs of our diocese as one family in Christ. Just as we are one in the Body of Christ, we must remember that we are one with other parishes in our diocese. Once a year, we are asked to make a commitment to support the work of our diocesan programs and ministries that provide services that no one parish could provide on its own. This effort is a means by which we can all work together to share the wonders of God with all those who seek Him. Thank you for your support and participation! DIVINE MERCY MOVIE Feb. 27 at 3:30pm room 3 The Face of Mercy Pope Francis has inspired millions by urging the world to embrace Mercy. LENTEN FOLDERS & C@NS The San Solano Missions covers over 4,450 square miles in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona. There are over 40 villages and Chapels that the Franciscans of the St. Barbara Province of Oakland, CA serve. The Lenten Folder/Can Program is the main fundraiser for the year that supports a variety of ministries among the Tohono O odham Nation in Arizona. The Lenten Coin folders and cans are available throughout the church. Please return them before Easter. Instead of taping the coins into the folders please put them in a baggie. Thank you. 5 Middle School youth (grades 6-8) Tues., Feb. 28 As we prepare for the Lenten Season, EDGE students will celebrate Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is the last Hurrah before Lent begins. Many cultures celebrate with Carnival which comes from the Latin words carne vale (farewell to flesh) hence our abstinence from meat. Students will celebrate this evening with food, fun, friends and faith. We will begin our evening with a Mardi Gras celebration with doubloons, crowns and masks, followed by a craft project, then sharing of King Cakes. We will move from Feasting to Fasting with a reflection and prayer service. We will conclude with burning of the palms blessed on Palm Sunday last year. We are sure students will come away with a clearer understanding of Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday and Lent. For more information contact Christine at ext. 17. GOLF BALLS FROM HEAVEN Tickets for our Golf Balls from Heaven ball drop, benefiting our Scholarship Fund will be available after all the Masses on: March 4/5 or through the parish office. Tickets are $10 each. Closest to the hole wins $1,000; 2nd prize $500; 3rd prize $200. Ball drop will take place Sunday, March 19th during our Golf Tournament at Gold Canyon Golf Resort. St. George Parish will receive half of the proceeds from the sales. The other half will go to charities in Arizona after deducting raffle expenses. $30,000 in cash prizes will be awarded: 1st prize $10,000; 2nd Prize $7,000; 3rd Prize $5,000; 4th Prize $3,000; 5th Prize $2,000; 6th Prize $1,000; and four $500 prizes. Donation is $5 per ticket, $20 per book of 5 tickets or $100 for 30 tickets. The drawing will take place Saturday, May 20th. Winner need not be present to win. COMING HOME C@THOLICS Years of non-participation have made many Catholics feel like strangers in their own church. To help you familiarize yourself with the Church, the following 5-part series titled Coming Home to All Catholics will be presented here on Thursdays, March 2, 9, 23, 30 and April 6 from 6:30-7:30pm. The series will address what Catholics believe, reconciliation, marriage & annulments, Mass and community.
