2 OCTOBER 21, 2018 I THE TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME So what is the way that any one who wishes to be a disciple must take? It is the way of the Teacher, it is the way of total obedience to God. For this reason Jesus asks James and John: are you prepared to share my decision to carry out the Father's will to the very end? Are you prepared to take this way that passes through humiliation, suffering and death for love? The two disciples, with their confident answer, we can, show that once again they have not understood the real meaning of what the Teacher is outlining for them. And again Jesus patiently helps them take a further step: not even experiencing the cup of suffering and the baptism of death entitles a person to the first place, because the first place is for those for whom it has been prepared, it is in the hands of the Heavenly Father. Human beings must not calculate; they must simply abandon themselves to God without making any claims, conforming themselves to his will. No one is master in the Church but all are called, all are sent out, all are reached and guided by divine grace. And this is also our security! Only by listening anew to the word of Jesus who asks, come, follow me, only by returning to our original vocation, is it possible to understand our own presence and mission in the Church as authentic disciples. 9:00 & 11:00 Babysitting is available in the Cathedral Center Grace Suite for children ages 6 months 3 years. 6 The Theology of the Body is the premier teaching of St. John Paul. Drawing from the Centerpiece of Christianity, The Incarnation, St. John Paul examines the fact that we are created in the Image and Likeness of God. What does this mean and how does it apply to everyday life? We are created for LOVE. The Gift of Self modeled for us by Christ is our blueprint for happiness. Beginning with the fundamental relationship of man and woman, he demonstrates that it is a real sign of Christ, the Bridegroom, and His love for His Bride, the Church. The Gift of Himself to us in the Eucharist points to the reality of our destiny.to be enfolded in the eternal exchange of love of the Blessed Trinity for all eternity. The seminary was run by the Society of Mary (Marists) who served as faculty, and the Sisters of the Holy Family who oversaw the domestic arrangements. Immaculata Seminary consisted of four years of high school and the first two years of college. It closed as a seminary in Centennial Mass All are invited the closing Mass for the Centennial Year of our Diocese will be December 12 th at the Cajundome Convention Center at 6pm.
