2 FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: Isaiah 66:10-14c. I will spread prosperity over Jerusalem like a river. Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 123:1-4. Our eyes are fixed on the Lord. Second Reading: Galatians 6: May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Gospel Reading: Luke 10:1-12, Jesus sends out 72 people to announce the coming kingdom. PEACE The greeting of peace at Mass adds substance to a message of today s readings: peace is relational. When we greet in peace the person near us at Mass, we share the touch of a handshake or embrace, sincere eye contact, and friendly words. The scriptures speak of a similar peace. The first reading from Isaiah describes the peace of the holy city, Jerusalem, a place of prosperity and comfort where the LORD S power shall be known to his servants (Isaiah 66:14c). The Christian understanding of peace changes slightly. Paul writes of the peace and mercy on all who are created anew. Jesus describes a feeling of peace that will rest on those who accept his disciples and their message. Peace is both an absence of strife and a personal blessing. 3 HOLY TRINITY & ST. AGNES NEWS By now I m sure you ve heard that there are changes coming. Fr. Grosko will remain as administrator of Holy Trinity and St. Agnes. Fr. Tom Lewandowski has been appointed administrator (pro-tem) of Holy Trinity and Fr. Dan Sweeney has been appointed administrator (pro-tem) of St. Agnes. What does this mean? Fr. Tom and Fr. Dan will work with Fr. Grosko. Since Fr. Tom oversees Christ the Light of the World, he will have to make changes regarding Mass times. These changes will be announced next week. Since Fr. Dan oversees St. Max, a change of Mass times will also be necessary in the near future. No weekend Masses will be changed at this time. The time changes will be slight as well. St. Agnes and Holy Trinity will notice a change in the bulletin. Also, St. Agnes new mailing address will be changed and announced next week. Remember, even though we go to different church buildings, we are one church, one God & Savior. As things unfold more information will be shared. VINCENT DE PAUL BUNDLE DRIVE St. Vincent de Paul is going to have a Bundle Drive the weekend of July 9-10 between 9am and 3pm in the Holy Trinity parking lot. Donate your clothing, in respectable condition, to a truck that will be filled and sent to the SVdP warehouse. Some of the clothing will be sold at our thrift stores in the area and some will be recycled. Either way, SVdP will obtain needed funds from your clothing donations. 4 A Prayer For Our Nation Gracious and loving God, we come to you in humble prayer for the United States of America. BLESS OUR PRESIDENT. Give him wisdom and strength to serve the American people and lead our country in ways that are pleasing to you. BLESS OUR CONGRESS. Instill in them knowledge and understanding to enact laws that protect the sanctity of life - from the unborn to the elderly; and promote the good of all people. BLESS THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES. Make us aware of our responsibility as citizens to uphold the principles of life, liberty, justice and equality. Send your Holy Spirit upon our beloved country. Make us people of faith in time of uncertainty. Make us people of hope in times of trouble. Make us people of compassion with those who are less fortunate. Make us people of peace in our homes, our communities, our country and our world. Amen LOOKING FOR BAKERS Our Appalachia crew will be heading for the hills of Kentucky. One of the great treats that our youth and adults look forward to is passing the cookie table and grabbing one of your special baked goods. Please note that if you bake, it is very hot and humid. Do not make/buy something that will not hold up in the heat. Please drop off your baked goods at the St. Max s Rectory on July 5-6. We will attend the 6:30am Mass on July 7th at St. Therese. All campers must attend Mass.
