My husband Matt is a dairy farmer, and we are the parents of four children and grandparents of six. All but myself (and the grandkids), are alumni of SMCC. We attend St. Mary's Parish. Together with Bill Laughlin, our head groundskeeper, we handle the day to day operations at Calvary cemetery on Sanford Street and St. Joseph's and St. Mary's cemeteries on Mills Street. Bill is also the person who removes the snow from the parking lots at all three parishes. He, along with Bernie Koch, Brian Wilson, Joe Lichtle and Mike Petrick work very hard trying to keep the three cemeteries clean, mowed and trimmed. Currently, at the cemeteries, we just completed our biannual cleanup. One of the reasons for the clean up, is to more easily mulch the leaves. Since the trees have decided to hold on to their foliage this year, if you can delay your decorating for a little longer that would be helpful. We will have wreaths available again at the same price as last year. We have two choices, a wreath with pine cones and a red bow for $32.00 and another with pine cones, berries and a red bow for $ All wreathes come attached to a wire easel, and the price includes tax and placement. This service is excellent for those unable to get out to the cemeteries or no longer live in town. Just give me a call ( ), and I will get your wreath of choice placed. For those who have family in the mausoleum, we can also make arrangements for niches and crypts. If you have any questions about burial options or memorials, please don't hesitate to stop in for a cup of coffee and we can help you with those concerns. May God remember forever our family and friends who are laid to rest in these cemeteries. May they enjoy the presence of Christ. Let me be ever mindful of the responsibility entrusted in me to care for their earthly remains with respect, honor, and dignity until the final Resurrection. Last weekend the parishioners of Saint Mary's Parish voted on how to configure the pews on the sides of the church. With 597 people voting, 378 preferred the longer pews on the sides; 219 preferred the shorter pews. Therefore, when the pews are returned after being refinished, the longer pews will be placed on the outer side isles. Thanks for voting! Sts. Peter & Paul Rosary Altar Society will hold a Christmas Pot Luck dinner on Monday December 10th, starting at 6:00p.m. in the Sts. Peter & Paul Gathering Space. All women are welcome to attend. Just bring your favorite dish to share. There will also be a $2.00 gift exchange. NO Children s Liturgy of the Word Dec. 2nd at St. Mary s Church due to the Men s ACTS Retreat returning. Dedication of the Holy Spirit Window The Holy Spirit window from the ceiling of the Reed Assumption Church has been installed in the Pilgrim Center at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, Bellevue Ohio On Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, there will be a special dedication of the window. It will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Adoration and Benediction in the Old Chapel followed by a procession to the Pilgrim Center for the dedication. Afterward, there will be light refreshments in the Shrine cafeteria. Everyone is invited and encouraged to be part of this special event! The Catholic Parishes of Sandusky are looking for several people to help coordinate wedding liturgies. The ideal individuals will be wellorganized, extremely welcoming and joyful, be able to take a leadership role and conduct wedding rehearsals (after being trained), be willing to be present before and after a wedding (to set-up the church and prepare for Mass, etc.), and enjoy helping families who come to our beautiful churches to celebrate this sacrament. If interested in this important role, please contact Father Jeff Walker for more information. Training will begin soon! Support the Retirement Fund for Religious. A donor writes, Your flyer touched my heart seeing the retired religious, such memories surfaced. Do you remember the sisters, brothers, or religious order priests who made a positive difference in your life? Today many are elderly and need assistance. Their religious communities struggle to meet retirement needs while continuing to serve the People of God. Please give to the Dec. 9th second collection. SPP Christmas Angel Trees (formerly Giving Trees ) are in the Gathering Space and the center vestibule of church. On the trees there are tags (with a new look), with a child s name and items they hope to receive. Won t you please take a tag from the tree and purchase a gift (or two) for a child? Please secure the tag to your bagged, unwrapped, gift and bring it to the Pastoral office by December 14 th. You can make the holiday season a joy-filled one for a child in our community. Possess excellent leadership, communication, organizational, administrative, and management skills; knowledge of adolescent and young adult culture; fluency in current social media practices and platforms; working knowledge of standard computer programs, including Microsoft Office; 1-3 years experience in youth and/or young adult ministry in a Catholic Church; and ideally hold a Bachelor s Degree in Theology. 11 Calling All Singing Angels of Holy Angels Parish plans are underway for this year s Children s Christmas Eve Mass. If your child would like to sing for this Mass practice begins Nov. 18 th from 9:45-10:20 am., in the music room. On Christmas Eve, please bring your child to Holy Angel s Choir Room at 3:15 p.m. (Dec. 24 th.) We will begin singing at 3:30 p.m. in the church!
