Monte Hoyles My dear Parish Family, Christ has redeemed us, and at the same time he is about to be born. He s among us, and yet is he s on the cusp of coming in a new way. We know God s love, we ve seen it(!), and despite this, we stand at the threshold of experiencing a love that is unlike anything we can imagine. With God, there is always the already, and simultaneously there s the not yet. If we ve come to learn anything as Christians, it s the that fact that God is an amazing mystery that, once experienced, will only lead us more deeply into a relationship that is equally mysterious, but real, satisfying and always exciting. He proves this by coming to us as an infant. Ask any parent and they ll tell you they experienced love in their life, but never knew they could give and receive so much love; they never understood how real, satisfying and exciting life and love could be until they received children into their life. God already loves you. As amazing as it is to believe, you haven t yet received all the love he wants to give. So he comes again: an infant for you married, single, priest, religious, widowed; the family together and far apart; those who are alone and those surrounded by many others. Christ, who s always there, comes again for you! It is my prayer for all of you that this Jesus Christ, whom you already know, will bless you, your family and friends with an experience of his mysterious, real, satisfying, exciting love this Christmas in a way you, as yet, haven t even imagined! The elevator will not be operational therefore those needing wheelchair access will need to chose one of the Masses in one of the other Churches. Please check page 8 for Mass times. The Catholic Parishes of Sandusky are looking for several people to help coordinate wedding liturgies. The ideal individuals will be wellorganized, extremely welcoming and joyful, be able to take a leadership role and conduct wedding rehearsals (after being trained), be willing to be present before and after a wedding (to set-up the church and prepare for Mass, etc.), and enjoy helping families who come to our beautiful churches to celebrate this sacrament. If interested in this important role, please contact Father Jeff Walker for more information. Training will begin soon! Request for Confirmation 510 Columbus Ave. Sandusky Ohio SNOW EMERGENCIES & MASS/EVENT CANCELLATIONS MASSES AND EVENTS ON WEEKENDS AND HOLY DAYS: Whenever a county/city within the Diocese of Toledo is placed under a Level 3 Snow Emergency, during which all roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel, the Catholic Churches within that geographic region will cancel the scheduled Saturday Vigil, Sunday, or Holy Day Masses. Roman Catholics in that region, therefore, are dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass. If Masses are cancelled, Catholics are encouraged to participate in Holy Mass via television, radio, or internet, making a spiritual Communion. When weekend or Holy Day Mass is cancelled, all other diocesan, parish, or school events in that geographic region are also cancelled. MASSES AND EVENTS ON WEEKDAYS: On weekdays, for the Catholic Parishes of Sandusky, if the City of Sandusky or Erie County is placed under a Level 3 Snow Emergency, parish offices will be closed and all activities are cancelled. As the priests live immediately adjacent to Saint Mary's Church, we will offer Mass there at 8 AM for the intentions of all the Masses scheduled for that day. When there is inclement weather or a lower level snow emergency is declared, Masses will be offered as scheduled. Please contact the Pastoral Offices for event or other possible cancellation information. Information will also be communicated through WCPZ and WLEC AM 1450.
